Highly suggest going on eBay and picking up one of the genuine Audi/VW/Skoda ones secondhand out of a scrapped car. Made in Poland, not China with a list price of £129. I picked one up last week for £12 delivered. Way better build quality than the Ring

Mine died after 5 times of using… also extremly noisy and slow. COLD

I've had one for 8 years, still going strong. Good for most car tyres but not powerful enough for low profile tyres that generally need higher pressures. Maybe you were just unlucky.

Thanks OP cheap for the money, and good if you don't already have one. But digital dials are more accurate. Those analogue dials jump all over the place.

Doesn't matter, the cheap ones like this don't have locking valves so they let air out when you're screwing the attachment back off. Probably not much but it means I'm not going to get over-fussy.

Besides, I had the digital version and it was a bit crummy. Lead a bit too short and it didn't last very long really.

Worth a check for some as you may already have a 12v pump in the boot with the car jack and tools. I discovered my wife's car (Audi) had one after nearly 3 years of owning it!

Happened to me as well Had a flat so was changing it to the spare and noticed I had one in the boot. Been paying for the machine at asda all this time 🤦🏻‍♂️

Had one of these for a few years. Plastics a bit cracked from me slinging it around but it’s still going strong. Never had a problem hitting 40 psi.

These are good, just a shame it doesn't auto cut-off at pressure, forgot mine and it hit 70psi, surprised it didn't blow.

Need a good digital one for up to 40psi - any recommendations please?

Mains powered, reachargable or fag lighter socket powered are all good (edited)

I have the digital version of this, bought back in 2014 and still working strong. Has been used and abused (literally) and still works like brand new. Unfortunately I've not seen the digital come down in price since I bought it, but from my expereice, it's worth the money

Saw this in Tesco the other day (didn't have a price). Looks a lot smaller than my digital one. Seeing as the digital ones have gone up a lot this seems good calue especially as a spare.

Yes, good enough for occasional use, along with a digital tyre pressure gauge.

Nice, where abouts is the fuse out of interest, and do you happen to remember what kind it takes? I have the same, thinking of keeping a spare fuse in the car just in case

I have one. Great for winter, my tyre pressures were fine in the summer (32+ PSi), but in the winter they dropped to below 28 PSi and my car computer was constantly displaying warnings. The RAC610 came to the rescue, no need to queue at the local supermarkets/garages air machine amd pay 50p for a non deterministic amount of air (and irritate others when I needed more). for £10 a bargain.
    Aza361's avatar
    Aza361
That's normal for winter. When the temperature decreases by 10°C, tyre pressure drops between 0.07 to 0.14 bars or 1 to 2 psi.

My neighbour has this, she was finding it difficult to use so I pumped the tyre up for her. Could see why she struggled, was so noisy, vibrating everywhere and was so tricky just to see the numbers on the gauge.

I've had one of these for a few years. My main issue was having to screw it onto the tyre valve. As you try to unscrew it after inflating it lets a lot of air out.

I bought a set of Pump Hose Adapter With Locking Air Tyre Tire Chuck (I wont post link as I don't think it's allowed), which means I can quickly attach and detach it and it's 100% better. (edited)

Had mine for years too still working well, only used up to 2.2 bar though no idea how it is beyond that but I do recommend this cheap and cheerful device. The attachment is a great idea.

These are good if the valve has a lever. If it is a screw valve then it can be tricky to put on cars so check the fitting.

A couple of years ago, I managed to get the digital 'Motorcycle' version of this for a £5 from Halfords. Don't know what the difference is between the car and motorbike version, but for a fiver it's saved me a few quid since :-)

I use this model every week to check my folks car tyre pressure (they insist weekly which I don’t mind) very accurate as gets ‘checked’ at garage as well! Before you rush out and buy one check your car boot tyre compartment. If you don’t have a spare you’ll have a compressor not always linked to the tyre gunk fill stuff (in Mitsubishi, 10 Yr old Audi and Renault from friends asked to use mine and checked their boots first)

I don’t have one of these electric fancy pumps, I just have a single barrel foot pump, very reliable and accurate.

BUT, depending how much air you need in the tyre, very uncomfortable for oldish men(like me) and maybe the fairer sex....... (edited)

I had a pump with a screw-on fitting similar to this, you have to inflate the tyre over the pressure you require as you lose quite a bit when unscrewing the fitting from the tyre....and I found the screw-on thread damaged the valve thread and I ended up cutting the screw off and replacing it with a push on fitting....(bit of pipe and 2 jubilee clips)

Noisy and Slow sums this up perfectly. Got one but would prefer digital as they stop on pressure set whereas this will keep pumping if you don't kepe an eye on it. Good for price however, digital ones are double the price

Can anyone recommend a way to get round the small basket charge? I have nothing to buy online to push it up to £25. Doesn't make sense to pay an extra 4 quid on top for it.
