Update 1
Some unconfirmed pricing from Roland Quandt via twitter:

S23 8/128 €959
S23 8/256 €1019
S23+ 8/256 €1209
S23+ 8/512 €1329
S23 Ultra 8/256 €1409
S23 Ultra 12/512 €1589
I like me a new release, and from the 1st February, Samsung will be releasing their newest flagship smartphones the Samsung Galaxy S23, S23 Plus and S23 Ultra, all rumoured to be coming with the Snapdragon 8 Gen2, which will be a bit of a relief for a lot of members here, previous UK / EU iterations have come with Samsungs own in house chips the Exynos, previously the S22 came with the Exynos 2200.

There were previous rumours about Samsung using a customised version of the 8 gen2 with a higher clock speed, but has since been quashed.

So what can we expect from Samsung in the S23 Ultra?

The aforementioned Snapdragon 8 Gen2, A new 200mp ISOCELL HP2 main sensor with 100x space zoom, will hopefully improve video.

Display rumours are another 6.8" Dynamic AMOLED, With gorilla glass victus 2.
Battery wise, there will be another 5000mah stuffed inside, with 45w charging, and wireless charging at 10w

Android 13 will be ready out the box along with ONE UI 5.1, and Bluetooth 5.3

Ram and storage options are 8GB to 12GB ram, with a base of 256GB storage, no 128GB option in the ultra according to rumours

Unconfirmed specs according to GSMarena Below:

S23 Ultra
S23 Plus
S23

So just a few rumours of the upcoming S23 Ultra, Are you looking forward to it?

No doubt Samsung will have some kind of free offer on and good trade in options

If they are doing a good trade in offer for the S22 Ultra, I may be tempted. I don't really have any faults with the S22.. so it'll all boil down to trade in value

I got £520 last year for my S21 against the S22 Ultra.

Looks like they might increase the prices for S23 . Hope they come up with better pre-order deals.

That's a £260 increase on last year's price for the base model ultra

I will probably bite if the Ultra is under £200 after trade in, cashback, bonus and the purchase of a toilet roll / pens. I am sure will find such a deal.

I'm still wondering if it will be enough of a leap for me to ditch my S20 Ultra. Given that it still works fine, I'll probably hold out until it's not. I just want a new toy though.

I'm wanting to upgrade from my S20 too. Got the S22 and the battery was dire so sent it back. Think I'll wait for the initial rush to die down to get a better deal.

Doesn't look like much of the perks if the prices are increased by around 250

Can anyone confirm if samsung pay is offering 5%
    xenept's avatar
This is what I got from them when asked...

    Hey there,

Thanks for reaching out, we initially set up a 5% Curve cashback rewards partnership with Samsung Pay via samsung.com purchase and was initially set for a temporary period of time and this time it has come to an end.

We are sorry for any disappointment this has caused, however, you can be sure to earn cashback from our other rewards programs at Curve! Simply visit your rewards tab in-app and you’ll find our always active rewards. These rewards remain active and will automatically apply Curve cashback to your balance every time you shop with the merchants on our rewards list. You can find a range of attractive merchants with various percentages to be earned in cashback!

Thank you for your continued support and have a lovely rest of your day.

Are those prices correct?? Dear lord they aren't half being greedy so and so's. How can they possibly justify that? It was barely five years ago where a flagship phone cost £500-600. What the hell are they packing in them now to charge twice for a "entry level" model and triple for the ultra?!

I've had my S20 FE for nearly two years now and it's super fast and an incredible phone. I paid £499 for it. My wife has the S22 Ultra and apart from better photos and a gimmicky pen which she's never used, it cost her more than double that with an inferior CPU. I have zero plans to even consider getting a new phone until at least 2025.

People really do need to stop buying these things. They really don't offer more than what we already have and they're rinsing people when they have less money than ever. (edited)
    drykoke's avatar
Thanks for your advice. I've just ordered S20 FE from Fleabay for <£200, Grade A condition. I'm hoping it will be a great choice.

If this is of a similar size to the s22 and they brought back the the headphone jack and external sd card. This would be their best selling phone ever by a mile
  10. Xmob's avatar
Nice to see them finally using Snapdragon for the UK versions.

Oh and I wonder if S22 cases will fit the S23? The ultra looks the same, especially with camera placement being the same.
    Rabadia84's avatar
Apparently no, slight differences in geometry so will have to be a new case!

Seems like the promotional trade in offers for the S23 are in:

    - Claim £100 on top of the standard value (S23/S23+)
    - Claim £150 on top of the standard value (S23 Ultra)

    chenzz's avatar
Anyone know how much the trade in value is for S21 Ultra?
  12. Godman's avatar
I bought Samsung S22 ultra last month. Battery life is very disappointing.
    It drains so fast
Also when someone calls me on WhatsApp I am not receiving the calls.
After few minutes, I am getting missed call message.

Does any one know how to fix this issue ?
    Batfink30's avatar
The SOC is inefficient so battery life will be poor. The 8gen2 in the S23u is a lot more efficient and it should have much better battery life.

    From Amazon
  14. Who111112's avatar
Would anyone know if usually trade in deals are impacted by cracked screen? Got my s21 ultra and not sure if worth getting it fixed, trads it or just keep as is
    niktheguru's avatar
Yes if there's screen damage you will get a lower price.
  15. nawabz's avatar
Would you suggest waiting for better deals or to go for the pre order deals based on past experience
    ohsomeonenew's avatar
Usually preorder deals are better but you never know.
  16. BreakingBank's avatar
Why does the US price stay the same?
    Batfink30's avatar
Because they want a share of the US market, it's more important to them. Everyone uses an iPhone over there and they want to tempt people away. They also get much better trade in deals.
  17. ohsomeonenew's avatar
What colour people are buying? I am split between green, graphite and red? Any recommendations?
    js14_'s avatar
I went with graphite. I usually pick black for all my phones. But unless you are going to use a clear case or no case at all, you won't even see the colour
  18. Nayno's avatar
Dam..., just got my Birthday code and not being accepted.... on the email disclaimer it states cannot be used on devices released in Feb and March... also expires in March so technically cannot be used against S23U
    Nayno's avatar
got code from fleabay.... got the device for £899 (inc £150 trade-in)... happy days

I've been holding out on upgrading for so long, I'm using a Note 9 Is it time? 👀

Nowt wrong with the note 9
  21. pauljanet's avatar
Is it just me or have smart phones got to the point where it's not worth upgrading as often. I have an S22 and it's no different to the S20 it replaced.
    quigley61's avatar
Seems like a lot of the improvements nowadays are just the camera or adding more of them, and software.
  22. pentaya's avatar
Is my assumption correct that all the Samsung buyers are the ones who are confused between native android and iOS and they go with one ui?

Btw, I'm happy with my pixel 6a which came for £130 with trade-in, cash back and some student discount back in November
    Francisco_LopesdOliveira's avatar
Yes all of us. It's not because oneui is amazing or the onscreen fingerprint sensor is super quick. It's mostly because in the shop my Samsung phone was in beetween some brand called Google and some other brand called Apple.
  23. ohsomeonenew's avatar
Holy prices Batman! Google has nailed the prices with 7 series this year. I just managed to get pristine 7 pro for 469 and I don’t see Samsung ever meeting that
  24. Esurient's avatar
Pre-ordered every time for the past several years, said I wouldn't do it this year as I think the S22U is below par.. yet here I am wishing it was 6pm
  25. G0rdonGekko's avatar
Will await for the obligatory misprice and or Samsung freebies/cashback/Currys trade in before biting (edited)
  26. FRANCESCOUK88's avatar
    They have lost their mind.
  27. acb76's avatar
I suspect 95% of people don't have any actual need to upgrade whatsoever, but do so because they need to feel important or to get people's attention by always having the latest material objects. After all that's basically what most manufacturers rely on to make money, be it phones, cars and so forth - their businesses wouldn't be sustainable if most people bought a phone, TV or such like and then kept it several years before upgrading/replacing.

The fact we live in a world where Chelsea FC have spent £559 million on players since last summer yet thousands of people are on strike today tells you everything you need to know about the warped sense of priorities in the world.
    pistol6000's avatar
Eh? Can't remember the last time anyone asked what phone i have or told me what phone they have ( unless they need a charger....then they tell me its an iphone..its always an iphone..)

I don't mind spending a fair bit on a phone tbh, even my Note20 is more powerful than my main PC, use my phone for 6-8hrs a day for work and play so worth it to me
  28. ohsomeonenew's avatar
I wish they would use that 1 inch sensor but waiting to see what they do with a 200 MP sensor.
    The_wayv_one's avatar
Yeah same, I don't understand why they don't start using larger sensors instead of increasing megapixels, it would make a much greater impact to the overall camera experience
  29. coldsky's avatar
S23 range available in Currys database since yesterday - although they currently have the same pricing for different size skews. Obviously these prices may not be final for launch.

    S23 - £849
    49448629-cgB3Y.jpg
    S23+ - £1,049
    49448629-o2cYt.jpg

Same price for 512gb and 256gb s23 ultra? can't be true.
  30. js14_'s avatar
I'm probably a Samsung sheep and a fool, but I bit the bullet and got the ultra for £575 with trade in
    markymark34's avatar
Good man. Too many people passing judgement on threads like this. Enjoy your phone. I'm just deciding on colour. What did you go for?
  31. cricket123's avatar
+1 Switchy. I'm looking forward to it. Leaks are looking good for S23 Ultra
  32. hamsterboy's avatar
I've ummed and ahhhhed over a s22 for more than a while. Hopefully the s23 release will push its price down enough for a purchase. It has been nearly a month since I last bought something shiny from Samsung after all.
    HappyShopper's avatar
I doubt it as, I think they sold through a lot of the S22 stock a few months ago.

If you search on here, you will see a lot of S22 deals around about Oct/Nov 2022.
  33. Denney_Masters's avatar
Keeping my S21 another year. I keep hearing they are bumping up the price for Euro and UK markets so no thanks Samsung.
    ohsomeonenew's avatar
Yeah if they increase the prices, I am out as well. My limit is around 600 with a trade in. Won't pay more than that
  34. chenzz's avatar
anyone knows where we can get some referral discount codes please?
    facebook or twitter pages?
    many thanks.

lm wondering the same. Please do update here if any info comes around

1 hour to go. Good luck in the pre order.
    chenzz's avatar
will the pre-order start from 6pm? or after the event?
  38. markymark34's avatar
I had forgotten how much absolute nonsense there is at live launch events. Yet still I watch 🙈
