Just bang on expenses… or deduct it from that tax you’re evading
  2. Just_Looking's avatar
I have one of these, at one point I was paying about 18p per litre less than the local supermarkets
  3. Dougal_McGuire's avatar
Not worth it for me, even with the card it would cost me an extra 2p per litre.

It's worth having. That esso may one day have lower prices which make it viable, but what if you're in a different town and need fuel? The esso may be the cheapest option. The esso may be the ONLY option. If its in your wallet, you have a cheaper way to pay for it!
  4. greg666's avatar
Makes totally sense, first add 10p and then claim your can save 6p….

Saving on diesel is 4p,there's a Esso and a shell nearby where I live in teeside shell diesel is 161.9,Esso diesel 166.9,
    Mumushka's avatar
My Diesel fuel card (small business) for next week (branded fuel, inc Esso) is down nearly 10p to 151.8. I presume pump prices should be on their way down.

Anyway of getting a blue light card

Work for an emergency service, or NHS etc. Worth it for the ASDA discount alone. 10% on all our supermarket shopping for the last 2yrs or so. Think it's saved us well over £500 in that time, probably closer to £1000.

Worth having because it's free even if you don't use it much. Cannot use with the ESSO app unless this has changed without my knowledge. A Fuelpecker card can be obtained with many corporate reward schemes eg. DHL.. If you are a blue light employee a Company Shop membership is far more rewarding saving huge amounts on groceries assuming there is a shop in your area.

Not being rude to anyone at all but the thing is is fuel is up energy prices up people still moaning and do sod all about it how about get shut of your 2nd & 3rd cars like us we now rely on public transport and occasional taxis mostly feet will do the planet and your own health a world of good. Otherwise boycott the forecourts but this needs to be done in the masses together like the strikes gets the government all riled up
    MrT2's avatar
That's nice that you live somewhere that you can do that, but many people don't, I start work at 6.30, first bus in my area is just after 8am... Walking, work is 8 miles away and there's no pavements along 80% of that distance, public footpaths over the fields are around but would add another couple of miles, assuming they're not underwater as they frequently are this time of year.

Can it be used at shell and BP garages as when I search garages near me on the site they pop up??
    Ajay1's avatar
Esso card can be used in other garages but they will charge you @ pump price. Hardly every any or very little discount

Same issue last time this came up, when inauthorise payment card it just loops on the returning to merchant and won’t go through
    Father.Christmas's avatar
Had same issue on iPhone. Tried on laptop and worked first time. Frustrating but saw that advice on twitter and it worked.
  12. snapper's avatar
Given up trying to get this, says I have already have an account which I did try to set up last year but didn’t go through so it must have kept all my details including BLC number and will not let progress any further then that page.
  13. Mark3270's avatar
    Hot from me ..

Despite the negative feedback on the BLC section itself, it’s worked well for me.

No hiccups, no wrong prices charged ..

Anything thinking of going for it, don’t hesitate , do it now (edited)

I’ve got one, very good but when esso was matching prices with supermarkets a few weeks ago but now they’re 10p a ltr more expensive so pretty pointless.
  15. JamesDougal's avatar
Got one, didn't post on here because limited to BLC members only and a bit of a con, every esso near me is well above anywhere else, I'm cheaper to get shell than ESSO with fuel card discount. Used it twice since getting it and to be honest wont be using it again unless fuel matvhes others, when shell is 162.9 for diesel and esso is at 171.9 🙃 take discount off and still paying more.............
  16. snapper's avatar
Does anyone know if you can link this card with the esso app so you can then pay at the pump.
    271's avatar
    No, you can't.
  17. deleted2817570's avatar
Give us all a discount. All you'll have to do is just take less profit and we all know you are making a literal killing. Thanks in advance to our Masters

I got Esso afew hundred yards from Sainsburys and they are always more expensive, no idea why people go there
    IRONM4N_UK's avatar
    Better quality fuel

Reviews are terrible & they're not open to new customers so I'm guessing they'll be withdrawing their cards soon.
  21. sp3345's avatar
Esso fuel expensive compare to Asda and Sainsburys.
    Make no different.
    Diabolik88's avatar
Supermarket fuel has inferior additives to what Esso and Shell put in theirs, especially when you go top grade with Synergy Supreme+ and V Power respectively. I know it's a cliché but you do get what you pay for.

If you if you don't care about what you put in your motor that's your prerogative but plenty of us do so heat from me, even though I don't have a Blue Light Card to benefit.
  22. Muy's avatar
You can also get this if you own a small business/contractor...
    navs's avatar
How do you get that ?
Do you have a link for that ?
  23. oidarwazeh's avatar
I love that, you and the locals of Yateley, Hampshire have decided that clapping for NHS workers is a value metric for giving them your service.
  24. Blue70's avatar
I've had one of these for a few months now. Use it for both cars and its saved us a fair few quid over that time. Once it's all set up its pretty seamless and you get an email a couple of days after each purchase with the discounted cost that appears on your payment card.
  25. julieelson's avatar
I don't like that it's asking for me for my card details for payment? It's supposed to be free. Do they want these details to link it up with Esso card when I use this card to pay for petrol? Sorry if daft question!
    Father.Christmas's avatar
Exactly that. Needs payment card details. These get charged a few days after u fill up.
  26. markgriff3's avatar
Got one as a BL holder, waste of time as even when discount applied my local petrol station (without discount) is cheaper.
  27. Bonsall84's avatar
Is it like a club card
    hell2021's avatar
No. You use it to pay for your fuel, you would need to add your payment details to it.
  28. scrumpypaul's avatar
Depends on individual Esso pricing. Next to my wife's workplace the Esso garage does diesel at 165.9 (probably the cheapest regional Esso for us) so with the card it edges it pretty close to Costco prices and in our case Costco is a 25 mile drive from home so only worth it if we're going that way anyway. (edited)
  29. jtalep1's avatar
Ordered one, may as well if it's free, could come in use if I ever need to use an Esso.
  30. phantom123's avatar
Do you have to add funds to it first to pay for fuel or does it just charge the debit card you link to it?
    Smck75's avatar
You fill up then hand over the WEX card to the cashier, input your WEX card pin and the payment is processed later (notification of payment is emailed) - your payment details are registered when activating your card in the first instance (edited)

I've had one of these for a few months and it's brilliant. Where I live Esso diesel is similarly priced to tescos and convenient, I also like how you have to give your mileage as it helps track fuel costs and mpg. At the counter it will seem as if you are paying full price but you will be billed several days later at the reduced rate.

I have the Esso card, Esso aren't the cheapest for fuel, even with the 5p litre off diesel they're not competitive.

I use the petrol prices App to find the cheapest fuel
  34. 85viz's avatar
does it work at Tesco/Esso sites? (edited)

It took a while to sign up and actually receive the card! However, went o use it for the first time and the petrol station attendant said the card wouldn't swipe

I've added a payment card, got a PIN etc, but the Esso card won't scan

Nice to know there are still people out there that doesn't mind throwing money down the drain

For some £3 a tank is a good saving
  39. daz_75's avatar
Usually about 10p more expensive in my area
  40. HKSwain's avatar
Sounds like a great money-saver (unless you're like me and don't have an Esso nearby!)
