This is a thread for the UK model. We've been over this - we know the US is different and I've explained why that is. It's not relevant, so stop obsessing over it.
The What HiFi review is valid but it's at £1100 - consider that the OP is 20% cheaper.
My point is that you'll struggle to link me to a mini LED of the same US specs *for this price*. You'll even struggle to link me to a set that matches the EU model's specs, bar the single TCL. I'll wait.
So on a value adjusted basis, that makes this a fine deal (even with it's flaws, like those in the What HiFi review as well as the french review I linked to) until I'm proved otherwise. 1400 nits for under a grand.
(yes, the TCL C835K is a great alternative at this price and defo the one I'd choose but I'd be surprised if you can find another)
To summarise, in future, understand that slating a TV isn't always helpful. It's better to suggest an alternative whilst explaining why. This is especially true when we we'll never get the US model so mentioning it is nonsensical (unless you're warning about the difference in reviews) (edited)

USA TV has a Better Screen and Android. Read somewhere that the UK Modules are Vestel. USA Modules by TCL.
Put me off ages ago.

Vestel make mini LED TVs now?! Source?

As others have said, this TV has an inferior panel to that in the US version. Shame, really, as most reviews on YouTube will have come from US based reviewers and people in EU, and the UK will buy this based on those reviews. Many reputable channels do disclose this difference, but some people may not see this.
It is also worth noting that this does not run on Google/android TV, like on the US version. It has Hisense's own VIIDA system IIRC which is not nearly as good. (edited)
BraddersJ
In terms of it being 'inferior' - how does the EU set review, though?
Because from what I can see it's damn good, value wise fwd.nl/bee…tv/

Discard the comments from the fools that imply that this is a rubbish TV. They haven't bothered to link to reviews proving that that's the case
55" fwd.nl/beeld/review-hisense-55u8hq-u8h-serie-lcd-led-tv/ 9/10 - that's the highest score I've come across on this site. The TV has it's flaws, as mentioned, but it seems the value makes up for that. It seems you're going to have to shell out a lot more for something comparable (an OLED non-deal is nearly twice the price atm I think?)
Yes, it sucks that the US version isn't available here. But all other mini LED's in this size/spec are above £1k atm in the UK.
If this fits the bill for you but you're still concerned, bear in mind that Costco are well known for their good returns policy (edited)

Agree, I find it bizarre that people are comparing this TV to a mythical US model which we'll never see here instead of to other comparable TVs in the price range.

It's been this price for ages. Thought it being posted meant it had come down further.
