Even cheaper through ebay for me.. Using code: 'FANCY5' 5% off for a total of £287.85

Well spotted. That is a bonkers cheap price for such a capable machine.

Personally I would always stick to the more basic machines like the ESAM4200 because I didn't get on with the built-in milk carafe system. We prefer the Aeroccino that came with our Nespresso. However if you want to try the fully automatic set up then you won't currently get better value than that.

Im not interested in the milk bit, would you recommend this just to use for Espressos /Americanos? Or should I look elsewhere?
    sashforth's avatar
If you aren't interested in the milk carafe then I would try to get a decent deal on something like the ESAM4200 or the ESAM2800. Both make the coffee in much the same way as this but both come with a manual milk frother rather than the carafe. If you time it right you can get a refurb from the Delonghi outlet site on eBay for between £140 and £170 when one of the frequent eBay discount code promotions is on. The Delonghi refurbs are normally immaculate and indistinguishable from new.

Got this yesterday through Ebay and the extra 5% off.

Also noticed you can get 2 free 200g bags of Coffee with this machine when you register it on the Delonghi website.

    Details here:delonghi.com/en-…lub

I looks like some kind of subscription service so be sure to cancel.

Did you manage to claim this offer? I registered the coffee machine on the website, got email confirming the registration details but cannot find any promotional code or details on how to proceed to get this offer in the email. Thanks

This deal might get hot, but the steamed milk from these machines doesn't. You will end up needing to use a microwave. It all comes down to that stupid milk carafe which also needs constant cleaning unless you are trying to make cheese rather than coffee

So I would recommend a machine with a steam wand instead even though it takes a bit of practice. That way you can even pretend to be a barista!

That’s what puts me of these machines. Have one at work and it always looks like a biohazard even though it’s a fairly new machine

Is Dinamica Plus ECAM370.70.B worth another 250 quid? I know has been cheeper in the past but no time machine
    sashforth's avatar
Definitely not. The difference in functionality is minimal.

I have this one. Amazing coffee. I got it in January sales last year for £350. Great price. Heat!!

Had a couple of older DeLonghi automatic milk machines (not bean machines), and I would agree that whilst it is very easy and handy to push a button to get frothed milk, I always had to put the coffee in the microwave after as it just wasnt hot.

But on top of that....they were also really unreliable. I had to send one back under warranty (after about 15 months) when the carafe stopped working, and it took them a full 3 months to conclude they could not fix it and give me a new one. The replacement machine lasted just over 2 years before again, the carafe part become blocked and unreliable.

Despite the easiness, don't think I would buy one again, even if cheap.

Was about to buy a second hand ETAM29.660.SB how does this compare? Features look really similar but guess devil is in the detail. Appreciate opinions of people more knowledgeable

Authentica machines tend to be narrower and have the water tank at the back.

The model you mentioned  has the advantage of an LCD which is much nicer than interpreting combinations of lights

My old Autentica seemed to perform very similarly to my current Dynamica except that the former had a steam wand instead of milk carafe

Lastly, buying a second hand unit can be problematic unless it has been professionally cleaned and serviced (edited)

Mine arrived this morning. Took a while to set up properly, grind adjustments and all that, will probably still need little tweaks as i use it more but for now managed to get a great cup of cappuccino! And also i do not find the milk temperature to be an issue, when it's done it's just perfect to drink imo 49742764-7Ddbe.jpg

I have a Prima Donna Soul. I fill my glass with boiling water first and then I get a proper hot latte. Saves using a microwave.

good deal, my one just broke (milk frother won't even start, hot water works but no steam). might be worth getting this one than repairing the last one knowing how much repairs are now...

My ESAM 2600 broke a few months ago, the chassis that is the main part of the machine that everything bolts to had snapped, DELONGHI wanted £200 plus to fix it so I bought the £35 part and had a go at fixing it myself.
Anyway after taking my time with it doing an hour here and there to break it up I put it back together and it works
My point is if a novice like myself can achieve taking the whole machine apart and putting it back together then anyone can so buy the part and give it a go

Fair price for this machine. This is what Delonghi claimed was originally retailing at £940.

Excellent machine. We’ve just upgraded to this from the authentica model. It’s great. Lots of preprogrammed drinks too.

Any advice about the difference between this and the Sage Barista Express?

I get that the Sage can produce better quality but requires more work.

Any opinions on either would be greatly appreciated to help my decision!

    Thanks, Anthony.
    A57ton's avatar
If you are looking at a manual coffee machine, 80% of the quality you taste in the coffee comes from the grinder.

The Sage grinders are OK, but not great.

Is it easy to clean? I only ever used nespresso and tassimo but want to try a decent bean to cup machine
