sorted byWhat a disappointing sequal.
Became a chore towards the end and i just wanted to get it done so just spammed the skip cut scene button
As I was 'playing' even the first few minutes, I felt like I'd seen his all before. Many times. The experience was overdone, similar, predictable, and frustrating. I also hate the fact that there were a lot of opportunities to explore the landscape, but no reward for doing so. I knew exactly when encounters were going to happen, who they'd be against (human or infected), and where the enemies would pop up from. And they do literally pop up. You can really tell you're in a game when the enemies suddenly populate the map, especially when you explore the whole thing prior to the preprogrammed trigger.
The areas of the game which had been criticised were actually generally fine with me. They probably overdid the androgeny of abby a bit much, maybe, and the scenes with ellie and dina were just the most cringe scenes I've ever seen (the scene on the farm felt like I would imagine it would be like to see your parents...well...) I get what was trying to be done, it was just executed with such a ham fist that I couldn't suspend my disbelief any longer.
The revenge plot, I think was executed well, and like the Aeris thing in FF7 og, it HAD to happen. No issues at all there from me. What I did think was silly was that the game tries to teach you about how bad it is to kill for revenge (I think abby was justified in what she did, and should have done more), but you spend the game killing probably hundreds of human beings. Uncharted has mr nice guy Drake killing thousands of people, but at least that's a swashbuckler and you're not being fed this line about how killing is bad .
For what it's worth, I thought the first game was overrated as well. I experienced AI glitches regularly.
My experience with this game, having gone in partially blind (I knew what happened to j and I heard that abby was trans which turned out not to be the case), was just one of overwhelming apathy. It dragged and dragged and dragged and dragged and dragged even further. Shame, because I actually thought the abby scenarios were the best in the game and if it were restricted to just those, I'd have disliked the game a lot less.
For me, it's a 4 out of 10 simply because it's graphically stunning. Gameplay and design wise it's a mess, and anyone who thinks this is a masterpiece has very, very low standards indeed
I feel most the haters ( the people who review bombed it ) were ether homophobic or just didn’t like particular characters being killed off - hard to watch, but I like that no one is safe from harm.
The story-telling of 2 was garbage and they literally butchered a character you spent so much time with in the space of a few mins. Literally, with a golf stick and a whole lot of steroids. (edited)
It also has a terrible plot "Hey bunch of strangers, I'm Joel Miller, you know the guy who killed all the fireflys? yeah the very same and you are???" goes against everything the character is to drive plot.
Also, playing as Abby i hated at first, but shes such a great character and her relationship with Lev is really touching. There are some emotional easy hits in there (the dog for example) but still it hits all its marks so well.
After all, this is a DEALS site and not IGN/IMDB - Some days I wonder, it feels more like Twitter in here.
Thanks OP

I enjoyed the storyline overall but it can be a bit of a grim, almost grueling experience at times. Not for the feint of heart.
Looking forward to the TV adaptation.
i hated it because naughty dog games are generic pop-a-moles
The story is nothing remarkable either, doesn’t drag you in like the first one. (edited)
Such an immersive expansive top tier title for under a tenner .
Hot hot hot .
If you can bag a copy looks oos everywhere (edited)
