sorted bySad really.
People go mental how "dangerous" these are, because the odd person dies (very bad i appreciate), but think of the amount of car accidents this would save.
Bikes and these really could do with their own infrastructure though, and thats the killer. The reason everyone hates them is because they are 1 - new (and people hate change) and 2 - they weave in and out of traffic and pedestrians
The "too many idiots" argument isn't a reason to not adopt escooters because we all know there are also "too many idiots" on the roads in cars too. Anyone who drives will know they see someone do something very dangerous in a car or motorbike almost every journey. We just see this so much we are desensitised to it.
Anyone who cycles will know the roads are really scary because drivers are aggressive and don't follow the rules.
Getting around for people without a car is difficult and dangerous because the streets are set up for cars and people in cars aren't willing to slow down or give way to people who aren't.
With proper cycle/scooter lanes, roads that are redesigned to eliminate those points where bikes and scooters are forced out into busy lanes of traffic and better rules in place these would be a really good form of green transport.
I get the feeling they are out to get us one way or another
