You can get a nice used car for that money

Yes, but that wouldn’t work in my office space.

isnt this the company that crazy lady took all the employee's bonus and pay rises away and went viral and increased her own bonus and pay? I wouldn't buy from them it seems bad
    McNabFish's avatar
Yeap, would only buy them used while she's in charge (edited)

Was tempted by their eBay outlet but there's no warranty (other than your legal rights) which makes the saving less worthwhile.
    BS1234's avatar
I thought of it on the flip side:

They offer really long warranties on their products because they’re confident they won’t break - which means the warranty isn’t worth that much in practice?

Bought a HM Mirra 2 chair in Graphite with Butterfly back in Dec 2021 for £690 delivered from Wellworking (authorised dealer). They were superb, provided a discount and also a video call to assist when I was setting up the chair. The chair is £830 on their site today (no sale - just standard price). It's showing as £810.00 on the HM direct site now even with all of the discounts. So on that chair, just saying for those not quite ready to make the purchase today, it's not necessarily the huge 15-20% discount that HM are stating if you are prepared to purchase elsewhere from an auth dealer who has lower prices all year round. I still got the 12 year warranty. The chair is superb though, another family member has since purchased one and we are likely to buy another.

Just wondering what made you choose Mirra 2 over Aeron? I'm deciding between the two. The prices are reasonable now given the high inflation rate, compared to a year ago, almost everything is up 10-20% minimum.

What is the main motivation for purchasing chairs like these?

I used to have horrific back pain, could barely work at a desk for 30 minutes at a time. Got a HM Aeron, and within 2 weeks I could work for 8 hours at a time, now all back pain is gone and I can work 14 hours at a time haha. Biggest problem is now remembering to get up every now and then. If you work from home it’s 100% worth it (edited)

I'm still waiting for a headrest for my Embody Logitech one. Atlas does one, but £200 to be delivered from US, not even sure if there's import tax on top.
    norbert7455's avatar
I bought atlas headrest for Aeron from us and I didn’t pay any extra tax on top, it came quite quickly with DHL delivery

    Heat added.

I've owned the cyan Embody Gaming for 16 months now but don't use it for gaming or office use as such. That's what my Aeron RM's for. I use in the evening for surfing and relaxing (like now) and no regrets.

The current HM discount is about as good as it gets.
    Firestarter11's avatar
What made you choose the Aeron RM over the Embody for gaming / office?

Just letting you all know that Herman Miller is a lovely company to deal with. I ordered an Embody gaming chair just days before this deal. I got through to support on the phone in less than a minute, and the extra discount was added as a credit note as I was still within the return window. No hassle, no dumb excuse. The chair is truly amazing, and it looks like their support is equally amazing.

I can't afford a new one so I'm joining the boycott of the crazy CEO.

Using a refurb/secondhand HM Aeron I bought on eBay in mid-2013 for £305, still going strong (Facebook-Mp may have better deals now).
All the other several desk chairs I had bought before then changed shape in a few months, gave me severe back troubles & had to be disposed off in a matter of a few months to a year.
These & similar ones by other top brands may be expensive to begin with, but they are definitely worth it in the long run. Please don't cheap out on a desk chair, especially if you spend many hours a day sitting in one 🙏 (edited)

Got my Aeron from their ebay outlet. Came as new and great price.
  16. cjb312's avatar
I bought one back when the discounts stacked with Amazon employee discounts. Paid £850~ for the Aeron.

For someone with back problems and sciatica, it's helped significantly and I can't fault it. If you are working at a desk then it's no different to investing in a decent mattress to sleep in.
    Jonwillis's avatar
My thoughts exactly regarding the mattress. 8 hours on mattress, 8 hours on chair.
  17. greg666's avatar
Not sure if I would buy one for gaming but as office chair it’s fantastic. I had often back pain which has completely stopped since buying a Mirra 2 a while ago (edited)

Excellent for WFH and much less back pain.

I bought a lightly used Aeron via Gumtree 5 years ago for £400. Been using it everyday since. Still looks and feels as new.

Bought a refurb Mirra 2 a few months back and it’s so unbelievably comfortable plus almost forces me to sit in a better position. Never thought I’d spend that much on a chair and it is a crazy amount of money but, given all the other crap I’ve tried over the years, it’s worth it. Though not sure if my budget would stretch to full price, even on sale!
  23. Firestarter11's avatar
Thanks OP! Been waiting patiently for this sale and ordered myself a Embody Gaming chair in black. I am so excited!
  24. keydose's avatar

Pretty sure the chairs where even more expensive on Black Friday embody was £1496.00
  27. M.B.L.'s avatar

I got this one, great chairs, considering the Logitech Embody .
    EDEN188's avatar
The Embody is ok in my opinion, certainly won't get a warm bottom in the summer. However, I wouldn't call it comfortable, but it is very durable, plus I sit in mine for 8+ hours a day, and doesn't have the backache I used to. I guess that's worth paying for. Just need that headrest at a reasonable price.
  28. HTJ's avatar
Thanks, heat added. I had been trying to talk myself into buying an Embody and this discount has got me over the line.
    ryandev's avatar
    You won’t regret it
  29. goldmercury's avatar
do they do any chairs with a headrest?
    Dr-Rjinswand's avatar
No. HM preach that you don’t need one with their chairs (and I tend to agree) — however, ‘Atlas Headrest’ sell them for the Aeron and Embody, they’re well regarded.
  30. Jonwillis's avatar
My mesh chair cost £200 and it's lasted well over 12 years now. Whilst it doesn't look new, it's held up surprisingly well.

Question though, which HM is worth getting. They have Embody ,Aeron & Mirra. Any key differences between them?
    StephenW's avatar
Individual preferences and body types can influence which chair is best, and some people may prefer the Aeron over the Embody despite the Embody having larger back support and more adjustable features.
It's recommended to try out both chairs in a showroom before making a decision.

I personally purchased an Embody for my wife's work-from-home chair a few years ago after trying out various options in the showroom.
It was delivered in a large box, but the delivery man didn't know how to adjust it properly.
After I helped my wife make the necessary adjustments, she found that the chair greatly reduced her back and hand pain from sitting and working for extended periods of time.
As a result, I no longer have to massage her every few days.
I would say it is the best investment for WFH equipment.

any significant differences in build quality or comfort between herman miller vs human scale vs steelcase?
  32. Argeilas's avatar
Prefer the look of the all black variant. I think the black/cyan wouldn’t look as nice in person.
  33. geowars2's avatar
Was tempted, but no delivery to NI. Not sure why it's so difficult, every other company can do it.
    Jonwillis's avatar
I don't live in NI but have recently spotted on several websites, NI delivery "isn't currently available".

I didn't think there was any extra paperwork with shipping to NI as it's in the UK. Royal mail don't charge extra although DPD seemed extortionate for it

Picked up the Herman Miller X Logitech G Embody last year. Definitely pricey but absolutely worth it. Best chair I’ve ever had the pleasure of sitting in. Very comfortable for those long work days in my home office. Looks pretty awesome too.
    High recommended. Heat added.

I have the Embody. Hate the fact you can lock it in place when it’s tilted back.
    ScotlandtheDave's avatar
Just checking - did you mean you can’t lock the tilt mechanism? I dont like this either but have no experience of the HM range
  37. ministrymason's avatar
I bought a secret lab chair and have back pain. Wish I’d bought an aeron instead. I might switch.
  38. morcef's avatar
Prices are inflated, so they can then be discounted to normal prices
    deleted1949126's avatar
Correct, the cosm is about £300 more expensive than the last deal about this time last year.
  39. Panda321's avatar
For the short deal chasers: This chair is totally worth the cost, as a 5" short person is really difficult to find chairs that are comfortable. The Aeron A size is just perfect. I wish I had not wasted so much money trying to make the standard size chairs work instead of going straight for this. Thanks OP!
  40. stophe77's avatar
Caved. Current chair is pretty wrecked (going on 15y) & can put through Ltd Co. so seems a no brainer.  Hope it’s as good as everyone says.  Must have read/watched most of reviews on entire internet in last 48 hours
John Lewis have Aeron so will try that out but don’t want to miss the deal.
