Can anyone recommend a whisky that hadn’t got that horrible oak/woody taste that most whisky has.
please .

That is because of the ageing in Oak. Bourbon are quite sweet,so if not too old can hide the Oak taste. Scotch aged in wine casks, can also be sweeter.
Makers Mark for a bourbon uses wheat in the mashbill and is gentle. Aberlour 12 is quite sweet for a scotch and aged in sherry casks. (edited)
Great whisky, heat for deal, however Amazon increased non-prime min delivery to £25 from £20 (edited)
No way! So they have... That's annoying.
Going to go against the consensus. I am a fan of Scottish Whisky particularly Islay which I appreciate this is not. I can only say that this is like a very average Bourbon and not like a Scottish Whisky at all. It feels one dimensional and artificial, vanilla overwhelming. Probably the worst whisky I have tasted in a while.
I agree that it’s simple, and being only 40% & chillfiltered means that everything about it is muted. Most drams in this sub £30 range have the same problem. That being said this is nicer & more interesting than most of the supermarket entry level non age statement expressions available & is a good option when starting out on your whisky journey. Far, far more to discover, but at under £25 this represents a great value for money.

Back in stock!
Not for me, sadly
Based on all your comments and upvotes this looks like a great deal. Is this non peated? (for example I really like Dalwhinnie and cant stand Laprohaig). Would I like this one?
thank you

It isn't. Might be slightly briny. (edited)
That’s a good price but it’s the first whisky we’ve bought where no one in the house likes it! It just tastes weird to us but taste is obviously subjective.
Heated nonetheless (edited)
It’s not my favourite, mostly due to it being a bit one-dimensional, but I’ve never found it unpleasant. Out of interest, what whisky do you guys enjoy?
Brilliant entry level single malt, great price
What wrong with it too be so cheap, other 12 years are normally 60 pounds plus….
Not sure what Whisky you normally buy, but you’re definitely overpaying at £60+ for a 12 year old
Great whisky. I’m going to buy it then pick it up once it’s been delivered. Then pour it. Then drink it.
What about unpacking it and taking the lid off?
thats a great price.
Usually £24-£25 on offer so this is a great price
One of the very few 40% supermarket whiskies I would recommend to anyone.
How about Laphroaig? or though I'm not a big fan Highland Park seems to be well rated by many people just like this whisky is.
Ordered as a gift for my husband, thanks for posting
Wish my wife would do something nice like that and order me a bottle. Her sister looking very nice at the minute. Just saying 😁🍾
Imagine waiting to sell your 12 year old whiskey for a measley 21 quid return (edited)
Sign of the times. Yes inflation has pushed prices up, but competition is red hot. And Pulteney can't compete on quality with Arran, Glencadam etc.
That's a cracking price. Buy a couple for presents if you don't like whisky yourself. A bottle of this will go down very well.
Seems to be a max of three per order, but that'll do. Was going to buy at £25 but this is a steal. Worth buying extra to put away if it's one you like. As an "everyday" single malt, I think it's great.
Good whisky, great price
£20.19 on S&S. Excellent price for a nice 12yr old single malt.
^yep on price, Exactly what a mellow inland single malt should taste like so if you've ever wondered, Get In Now. Unless a trusted pro says not to in case it's changed somehow. (Unlikely, age statemented stuff is a safe quality barrier) Do Not stockpile (I would at this price) til you Know Laphroaig. Think mellow curry vs. phaal.
A mellow inland single malt? You mean Highland single malt, surely; the Old Pulteney distillery sits in Wick, a quarter of a mile from the North Sea. Still, it's not as recklessly maritime as the southern Islay malts, and well worth picking up a bottle at this price.
Thanks OP. Great price. Couldn't resist at this price. Heat added.
Thanks for posting
Great price OP
Bought in March last year from Amazon @ £24, so this is a great price. Heated, thanks op.
Nice whisky, great price
Heated
Heated not peated
Lovely stuff
Cheers, ordered
One of my Favs, great price ordered
One of the greats.
Cracking deal Kitty. Nice to see you back on after a while.
Fancied this for a while, didn’t ‘need’ anymore whisky (well that’s what the wife says). At this price definitely trying it 🙌🏼 🔥
£36.79 current price down my local wine store.
Ordered from Amazon. Thanks for sharing!
Heat for the price.
Hot
Absolute bargain.
This is a lovely whisky and an absolute steal at this price.
The bottle is a very nice shape. The contents don't have much to offer though, in my experience. I found it an unrefined, hot spirit. I was very disappointed at the time. I bought it in 2018 according to Amazon. It is relatively cheap I suppose, perhaps I'll give it another go.
That's only 5 years ago... Check the back of your cupboard... There might be some left!
