I got a SIM on 12 month contract in March with O2, 3 weeks later they added £1.30pm extra on my bill, rang them & they refused to drop it & also said "your on a 12 months contract & we can put your price up because of inflation". Soon as my contract is up I'm gone.

    Every provider does that.
Though with O2 you can change plan anytime u like, it will reset your contract to 12 months.
Go to Quidco, follow the instruction in OP and make purchase of this deal.
You will be back to £8.
    Select existing customer when asked.

Wait a couple of weeks. If still nothing then call o2 and give them the VM account number. They’ll manually link it together.

Whoever says this doesn’t work, I’ve just done 4 x o2 sims, mid contract. 4 x top cash back £10.20 each.

If it gives you a warning deleted internet cache.

I'm in a similar boat, but not expectant of cashback after reading the blurb from TCB...
"What will stop me getting cashback?
If you are not a new customer to your chosen provider.
If you upgrade a current mobile package to another mobile package."

    Fingers crossed though!

Just be warned, O2 data speeds are absolute trash. I ignore the comments and signed up thinking “I’m already with GiffGaff, how bad can it be?”. The regret! Can’t wait to leave in a month

Thank you. I had enough of paying £2 per day for roaming with Three... What's the use of paying £6 per month, when you end up spending additional £20 each time you go on holiday?! It effectively doubled my annual bill...

And don't forget if you go over their "fair use limit" that still exists despite the £2/day fee, they charge you extortionate extra data fees.

I've only just taken the £7.99 for 15GB 2 days ago, does anyone know what happens if I complete checkout (it allows me select my new/existing number to upgrade, just don't want to mess up my new one which is also mid-port)?

Any sim only deals for a higher data allowance?
    WhaleTrain's avatar
    WhaleTrain
Might help to specify what sort of 'higher data allowance' you're after.

If you're with Virgin, you'll join VOLT so your internet package and SIM data will double automatically for free.
  20. ventoo's avatar

It available through the moneysupermarket link

Also will you get travel inclusive with Volt or you need to be on higher plan? (edited)

Wonder if its worth calling o2 and getting this. I had changed my tariff so I could get it back to 10£ but i have no idea when it comes into affect. I barely even use 10£ a month
    emptypocketz's avatar
    emptypocketz
depends how much data the £10 plan is but £2 x 12 is £24 still saved.

This deal is then good, just remember you enter a new 12 month contract from next day you sign up to this new tariff.

I think it also makes more sense if you are on Virgin media since you double the data to 40gb which is extra worth it.

I'm on a rubbish Three sim-only deal and would love to get this. Is it easy to get one of these o2 sims but keep my existing number? How do I do that? Any help hugely appreciated
    Cinnamoroll's avatar
    Cinnamoroll
Usually when you register for a new SIM one of the steps is to bring your existing number! I don’t know about O2 but I’ve switched my phone number a lot of times and the process is always fairly easy
  25. MrBru's avatar
    MrBru
Anyone able to edit/remove the extra? If I click edit it takes me to 02's SIMO page and the plan isn't there (presume I'll be able to checkout OK with Disney, just don't need it)

Thank you, I had enough of paying £2 per day for roaming at Three... What's the point of having £6 per month contract, when you effectively end up doubling your annual charge by simply going on holiday?!

Just tried this via topcashback and Uswitch, £8 deal mentions Disney plus or a different extra when you go into the o2 page summary from the Uswitch page BUT when logging in as an existing o2 customer and saying you wish to upgrade an existing number they want to charge you or allow free upgrade when that contract expires.

so looks like they have stopped you switching to a better deal mid contract like some say they do every 3 months to get the Disney plus again.

    KodaBear's avatar
    KodaBear
That’s not a credit check. That’s a business policy rejection. Most commonly because you have recently opened another account with o2 already, or have more than 6 accounts open currently.

When I try to upgrade, it says pay 65 pound extra or for free after 12 months  contract ends on 22/12/23

I’m currently paying £9.38 after the RPI increase but O2 have said I need to pay £50 to switch to this tariff as I’m still mid-contract.

Has anyone else already on O2 successfully switched to this plan?
    lugworm's avatar
    lugworm
Same here. It has worked fine in the past, but times must be tough for o2, not letting loyal customers change their tariff.

    Hi!
I'll settle in the UK soon, this offer sounds great to me, I use less than 20GB today

What does '' 40gb volt'' mean?
    KodaBear's avatar
    KodaBear
Volt customers get 40GB data. Regular customers get 20GB.

Volt benefits are available to anyone who has both Virgin Media and o2 services. By bringing the two together you get double data on your phone, and an upgrade to the next speed broadband package at home - both for free.

As a new person coming to the UK, I'm afraid you aren't likely to get this offer. There will be a credit check as part of the application which you aren't likely to pass if you have no history as a new person to the country. Try to look for no-contract offers instead (Ideally with a brand who uses a network better than o2 who have been bottom of the tables for years now due to congestion and poor data speeds)
