Cold. ASUS are notorious for being difficult and 'forgetful' when it comes to honouring cashback. Besides that, be wary of positive reviews, given that part of their cashback is only paid in exhcange for those positive reviews...

I had a similar experience, their cashback website isn't the easiest to use and you need to jump through hoops to get it. I had mine refused for a motherboard despite fulfilling the criteria and could not be bothered fighting it with them. I think it should be seen as a bonus rather than a given.

Things coil whine like hell just fyi, typical Asus QC
    Somersett's avatar
You'll notice an automatic 'coil whine' post from the usual suspects in pretty much all AMD GPU deals. It is an example of how Nvidia uses PAID negative PR posts against the competition on all social media outlets.

People moaned about false positive reviews, but false NEGATIVE reviews are now becoming more common because they have greater effect with the hard-of-thinking.

Mine arrived today, unfortunately it has coil whine even on low fps Will probably try and get a refund. (edited)

you tried undervolting? quite often helps with coil whine.

This is my first build and I am confused about the power supply. What power supply is everyone using? And for the card 1x6 pin and 1x8 pin connector, let's say I got myself a semi modular power supply, would I need to connect the power supply cable with a pig tail for both pins or have 2 separate cables for each pin? Thank you
    sammybox3's avatar
    Author
Either way should work fine - I would personally go for two cables if you have them.

Is this card safe? I'm not catch anything from this STD edition am I??
    Czubaka's avatar
    Better use protection when installing.
  7. Weehamish's avatar
Tbh 300 for this or 500 for a 4070 and the 4070 destroys it
    Hinch87's avatar
The 4070 quite a bit more powerful according to TechPowerUp but for double the price. In any case silly comparison since they are in totally different price ranges. In normal games without Raytracing this would be a lot closer to the 4070 (or 3080).

This is way better value going by that metric. (edited)

I got this card last year and it's been awesome, best bang for your buck!
  9. Hinch87's avatar
Assuming the cashback works, this is probably as good as it gets in this price range. Performs about on par with the 4060 Ti. Around £100 cheaper, scales better at 1440P and comes with 12GB VRAM.
  10. kkwiatkowski's avatar
    That's quite bulky.
Anyone has any idea whether it would fit AWD Volt case?
    EDEN188's avatar
This card is too wide for my case (Sharkoon QB one), while it can fit the length and height, definitely not the width. I think there max width for my case is about 45mm, 50mm most and the fans might just touch the side panel. The 4070 RTX would fit nicely, but no way am I paying the rip off price to Nvidia.

Came across this website, good details about case specifications. Unfortunately can't find your case here.

    will this fit most mid-towers?
    Czubaka's avatar
    295 x 139 x 55mm, don't see why not. I'd be more worried I'd you're trying to shove it into Mini-ITX.

    £285 very tempting price.

Get it ! Well worth it
  13. khodos's avatar
in my experience, coil whine can be due to some incompatibility between the psu and the gpu. The one time I had coil whine, it went away when I swapped PSUs
  14. khodos's avatar
both my cashback claims have been approved, payment can take up to 90 days though
    The.Fat.Cat's avatar
More like 'At least 90 days'.
They often 'forget' to give the cashback and need reminding after the 90 days are up (had to do that twice with them).

    Unfortunate edition name

Wait for 4060 AMD is trying to shift old stock hard now because they know future gpu's will make them unsellable

8gb isn't a concern for anyone below 4k as per Nvidia's own blog post

    Which is nonsense.

Is 12gb RAM going to be enough in 5 years time? I've been holding out for a 16gb card but this deal seems ok.

Also will prices be cheaper in a few months? I don't need a card immediately.
    3anana's avatar
In a few months the 6700XT will likely be discontinued. The price after cashback for this card is fantastic, especially considering the just-released 4060 Ti is faster by single digits yet costs £400+.
  18. londonstinks's avatar
Hurry buy quick or these will be gonorr!!
  19. Somersett's avatar
If you get your discount, this is the killer value GPU for brilliant 1080P or OKish 1440P, and makes the 4060TI look like the pathetic joke that it is. HOWEVER the discount presages things to come- GPU prices are heading downwards, hard.

Nvidia and AMD have turned the market into a very bad joke, both launching a trash new generation this time. At least Nvidia has the option to drop the prices of the 4070TI and 4080, with both cards becoming decent at the right price, given their good power efficiency. OTOH RDNA3 is the bad joke of the century, using more power and giving less performance than RDNA2. The high end chiplet RDNA3 cards mask this fact by being somewhat faster than the 6950, at the cost of a truly obscene power draw.

However, the point is that by mismanaging the new generation, and having massive stocks of the last gen, in a dreadful PC recession, with current AAA games only really pushing VRAM limits, we have a perfect storm for GPU price collapse- driven harder when Nvidia is forced to release parts across the entire stack with much higher amounts of VRAM.

8GB cards (above a certain price) will become unsalable. 12GB cards will cease to be desirable at any premium. 16GB will become the new minimum for any AAA gamer. What do you think is going to happen to the price of all those 12GB 4070TIs? Well actually Ngreedia will cut them all down to 4070s, to avoid giving their customer any real value cards.
    Jacky_Rogue's avatar
So they really are malevolent yet we keep giving them out hard earned cash. Should I get this or wait for 4070ti via Amazon lucky dip? I'm mainly going for productivity, creative suite, unreal engine 5 learning, but will be playing Age of Empires 4. What GPU have you got?

Upgraded to this from an RX 580 a couple months back. Huge difference! High FPS in 2K. I paid £379. Nice deal 🔥

Glad to hear it, that's what I'm replacing. Amazed the 2nd hand card has lasted the last 3+ years!
  21. xxbluedragonxx's avatar
Just a thought but perhaps some of you ought to try turning the fps counter off. Trust me, you’ll find it liberating.

Have just watched Gamers Nexus review of 7600. Seems like sensible thing to do is wait a month and watch AMD and Nvidia fight it out
    Weehamish's avatar
Yeah seems the 7600 blows this away... somehow or its a typo on its spec?
  26. The.Fat.Cat's avatar
    Fantastic card for that money.

I went for this yesterday at ebuyer with the two discount codes for a total of 305. This is even better. I'm emailing them now for price matching! Let's hope. I've waited for months for a deal in my price bracket and this is it.

Factor in second hand value of my old one, this is a colossal upgrade from a 2016 card for me at not a huge amount of money.
    thorpe's avatar
But £65 of this is cashback through Asus, not amazon and not discount codes, can't you qualify anyway?
  29. Weehamish's avatar
£25 off wont work... amazon not on retailer list... nvm it is its hidden away xD (edited)
  30. Jacky_Rogue's avatar
Could pretty much get this and the AOC wide-screen monitor posted recently for basically around the price I was looking at just for the GPU in my new build...

Debating whether I should pull the trigger on this one?

I’m Halfway through a 13th Gen Intel build for mainly photoshop, drone and DLSR Video rendering. 4k game on my ps5 however would like to delve into the odd pc game that I couldn’t get on psn.

Is this in theory to good to miss or hold out?

    TIA
    Czubaka's avatar
This is fantastic price for a very capable GPU IF the cashback works. The next cheapest one is 350£ if I'm not mistaken. (edited)
  37. se97sc's avatar
Does the cashback still work if it is from Amazon but sold by someone else such as EpicEasy Ltd?
    Eptesicus's avatar
Isn't Amazon the cheapest for this card anyway?

Also, i wouldnt buy a graphics card of a random Amazon seller called Epic Easy Ltd! (and also no, it would not qualify for the promotion). (edited)
