If the link Curry's sends you in the email doesn't auto-fill the code to redeem at Apple, check the URL when you land on the Apple website as it includes the code at the end of the URL:

tv apple com /redeem/?ctx=tv&rt=email&code=XXXXXXXXX

BTW Remember that you can cancel straight away and continue with the 5 month sub. Saves trying to rem to cancel closer to the end.
