Cookies policy

A cookie is a small piece of data (text file) that a website – when visited by a user – asks your browser to store on your device in order to remember information about you, such as your language preference or login information.

Why do we need to use cookies?

Without a cookie, every time you open a new web page the server where that page is stored would treat you like a completely new visitor. This could get pretty annoying for you as a user and would make our sites completely unusable. A cookie works like a key to this effect, it helps us to give you a swift user experience, remembers the choices you make around your account settings, preferences and ensures we don’t display the same messages to you repeatedly.

Strictly Necessary Cookies

These are cookies that are necessary for the Platform to function as well as to operate our business. These are used to let you login, stay logged in, measure our traffic (anonymously) and to ensure site security. Without this type of technology, our Services won't work properly or we won't be able to provide certain features and functionalities.

This shows that the user accepted our cookie policy and we don’t need to ask them again to review it.
dont-track If this cookie is set, we are anonymizing the actions from the user - any events related to the user will be stored with a “0” in our tracking, rather than the user ID.

bpn_device_subscribed

fbpns
guest_push_enabled
guest_user_visit
These cookies are used to know if and how we should be sending browser push notifications to the user. They allow us to know the number of times a guest user requested a new page, which is used for showing the browser push notification modal. They indicate if the user recently subscribed to browser notifications and if we already served the browser push notification opt-in to the user so that we don’t need to keep showing it. They are also used to store info if we should enable/disable guest user’s browser push notifications.
lcl This cookie allows us to track click outs correctly
mascot
mascot_reserved
mascot_check
These cookies are used to run our Flamedeer game. They allow us to ensure that when a user catches a flamedeer, the mascot or flamedeer that was caught is kept, and that the users would be able to claim the card should they need to log in first. They also allow us to know whether or not the flamedeer is shown when a user logs in, should they decide to opt-out from the game.
pepper This cookie is used for redirection so you land on the correct Pepper local site (and so your preference is saved)
pepper_session This is a session cookie, used to remember short term information, such as the fact that a user is logged in (so they aren’t asked for login credentials on every page load)
remember_<some hexadecimal digits>
The "remember me" cookie helps users to keep logged into our site, so they’re still logged in next time they visit - this is useful if they’re on a trusted device.
Secondly
xsrf_t This cookie allows us to prevent cross-site request forgery attacks.
DI This delayed intent cookie stores the actions users take when logged out, so we can apply them once the users log back in and ensure they land on the intended page
