When you submit the application, I think from memory, it will ask if you want to do a balance transfer and you fill in the details of the balance that you want to transfer with all of the details, Balance, Bill details Etc.

Its pretty straight forward, I haven't done it with this card but for MBNA there is a menu in your account where you put all the details. Or you can do it over the phone.

Once you have received your card you can call the credit card company asking for the balance transfer.

Basically all your do is give your "NEW" card your "OLD" cards 16 digit number and the amount you wish to transfer.

The new card then pays your old card the amount you asked, you then owe the balance to your new card at 0% + any fees they added during the transfer.

******Remember if you have £5000 on your old credit card at say 17.9%apr, and you get approved for this barclay card and your new credit limit is only £3000, then you cant transfer your full amount, but you you would still save on interest payments!******

Thanks for your help everyone

Ok a quick question, I have just signed up and been accepted. While I was filling the form I decided to do a balance transfer making my other card 0p because the interest free period is coming to an end. When the card shows 0p can I spend another £1000 on it and request another balance transfer from the same card?

I have just don a 30 month interest free transfer with barclays

Is there a minimum salary on this card? I can't check as my work pc won't let me click the link.
The last time I looked at these cards you had to earn a minimum of 20 thousand.

It is £20,000

Hello, I have no idea how these work, but could I do the following. Sign up for this card then transfer £2000 to my personal barclays bank account. Then have 25 months to pay off the credit card?

Thanks for the help in advance

This is whats unofficially called a "super" balance transfer or a "money transfer", you could use it as a 0% loan or to pay off your overdraft, or whatever.
There are very FEW cards that allow you to do this, MBNA, allows you to do this BUT you also have to pay a 4% fee, so all in you could transfer £2000 to your current account at 4% (£80), thus allowing you to get 29 months at 0%. (must pay min payments each month also).
Total to pay back £2080.
Remember most banks will NOT let you transfer a balance from their own products, ie rbs to rbs, or mbna to mbna, its got to be a different bank each time, ie rbs to mbna.

Getting an M&S card and then buying travellers cheques is an option I have heard but not quite sure how this works

For any one with exiisting barclay card can apply on line i did and i got accepted so i ended up with 2 balance transfer cards even though the offer was only for new customers i applied through martin lewis website.

Just beaware, if they realise we are still in a recession then Barclaycard will be the first to reduce your credit limit without warning! If you have to call then likely to find customer service is very poor.
Hating the fact new customers always get better deals.... with cards it is a risk and pain to cancel then apply for new ones.

Can be very useful!!!!

Question for the balance transfer experts.

Can I transfer my balance to another persons CC ( wife for instance?)

Thanks

I think you can i did it to clear my daughter's overdraft limit .

Thanks OP this is amazing.

I've been steadily but far too slowly trying to pay off my crappy 50% vanquis card that had a little over £1400 left on it. This 25 months 0% has probably saved me a good £800 or even more.
I've tried before to get 0% cards but have always been turned down, hopefully this means that my credit rating is finally getting a bit better!

No probs...... Hope you get to shift your debt early.

Why is it a risk ? You'd have to be daft to cancel cards before applying for new ones

I have 11 cards, total balances maybe £200 with credit limits of £35k. Just ordered a natwest 15m interest free purchases

Never had an issue

Great offer for anybody daft enough to have a large credit card debt
Thumbs up to anyone who's built up the balance in the last month and is now balance transferring

Yes

Just done this but with the Virgin Money card instead and got accepted with a poor credit history (1/5 score on Noddle) for nearly £3000.
26 months 0% on balance transfers and 17.9% after that.
2.99% fee
Still worth doing as I'm clearing £1400 off 2 cards with 34.9% and 39.9% apr.

If I stick to it (I bloody hope I do), I'll clear the debt in half the time and for half the cost! (based on rough workings out).

That was through MSE so thanks!

I was going to ask this too! Has anyone done this? Seems dodgy here too...

Hot! Have had the same credit card for years and never bothered to do this sort of thing. My current balance is bigger than usual at the moment so transferring to this card will be saving me approx £30 per month in interest

Belatedly accepted for this today, thanks OP.
