0% Finance Instore at GAME - interest free for anything over £350

Found 19th Apr
Just been into GAME and they have a lot of display info about finance. They have 2 offerings, one is interest bearing and it is interest free for anything over £350.

Most console bundles go over this amount so thought it was good to make people aware.

I didn't take a photo instore, but confirmed with staff that the offer has been running for a couple of months.

There was a PS4 Pro bundle that came to £349.99 and that had an info page offering the 0%.

You have to pay a 10% deposit.

In the picture it says 25% deposit but still not bad if you wanna spread the costs out for a half decent bundle, I hate Game but they tend to do alright with their console bundles.

Yeah I just googled a picture because for some reason I wasn't brave enough to take a photo instore. It is definitely a 10% deposit. This picture may be from a previous promotion, I'm not sure.
Do people really buy games consoles on finance? (Catalogue battalion paying 2 quid a week for 150 years excluded)

Why would you not use interest free anytime it was available?

Well

One: you don't get the purchase protection you get by using a credit card

Two: by using a credit card that does a voucher/cashback programme you get money back, as long as you pay your monthly balance in full of course.

Three: there's enough monthly bills we all have already without adding to them

Just because there's interest free credit available doesn't mean you should use it, you wouldn't get the daily loaf of seeded batch on tick if your local baker was offering it on interest free would you?

I agree with your first two points. I'm not even saying I would use this interest myself - I didn't buy a console today - but there are plenty of similar console bundles floating around at the moment and this may make the difference for someone. Not everyone will have £450 to chuck at an xBox One X bundle deal, so interest free makes it affordable without paying more.

I would consider the interest-free bread. Is there a compulsory dough-posit?

very sharp that fair play

I am just of the belief that if you not got the dough to buy such small ticket items, which a console is as it's hardly a 3 grand telly is it, then perhaps you shouldn't be buying it.

The more you offer interest free finance the more people get themselves strapped up with more debt that for many eventually becomes so big they end up in serious financial difficulties.

The reason I mentioned the catalogue sharks is because they serve the people who can't afford anything for whatever reason, those of us who don't need them don't need interest free on 3 n half hundred quid items either.

Which all leads back to those two massive advantages we both agree on why you would buy everything with a suitable credit card.
You need interest free credit with Game’s prices!

Secret is to look at things from many people's points of view. Somebody may & can benefit from this offer from Game. It doesn't interest you? That's fine. You are not the almighty.
Op - I got you over the 100 degrees mark! Minus 100 yes but hey, it's still an achievement!

Bang on. The community here at HUKD needs to realise that the ‘cold’ vote is for poor deals. Not to make it clear they are not interested in that product

I didn't vote either way because I don't consider it a deal but the fact it's gone cold would suggest people do consider it a deal and a rather poor one at that, hence they voted.

The retail sector is awash with 0% deals, maybe that is part of the reason this 'deal' was voted cold, which leads me back to what I said before:

The only people who would really benefit from this invariably are those who will fail the credit check and then wander down the precinct to BrightHouse where they'll end up paying about a grand for a standard PS4/Xbone over three years or something ridiculous like that.

Nothing to do with being 'the almighty' because it's basic demographics I'm talking.

Again you are highlighting your prejudices. I voted cold without insulting those who may benefit from the offer.
I use PayPal credit - 4 months interest free on anything over 150 - just payed for 200 footie boots with it - could've paid outright but think nah keep my money in my account and only give what I must when I must. Makes little difference either way but I like using it.

If stating the obvious is highlighting my prejudices so be it but everyone has prejudices,

As example it seems totally socially fine for people with less/working class to illustrate prejudice against people with more/upper class, no issue for the self important 'educated' working class to illustrate prejudice digging out the simple 'chav' working class yet it's not okay the other way round

We all have prejudices. Another secret of the more classy (not social class) is to keep them to ourselves.

That makes 12,874,985 people who were rather un-classy in this country less than a year ago
