Isn't 5000 points £25 not £250?
....still seems like a good offer.
Only £1200 limit though so not really that good for a balance transfer...

It says "assumed" credit £1200. It's just used as an example. Depending on your personal circumstances you may get a lot more.
Does anyone ever get accepted for anything finance related with Sainsburys?

Yes. The £250 is how much it says you have to spend to get the 5000 points.
£250 at Sainsbury in the first month

My credit rating is well above average but I never get accepted.
I was accepted for a Sainsburys CC 3 months ago but the paper id requirements (originals only) were excessive. I don't have financial statements on paper at all (printouts from website not acceptable) and wasn't willing to send my passport to them or pay £20 to have the documents certified by a solicitor. In the end I went for Tesco who were able to validate my application without paper id.
