hot from me

2.9% Balance Transfer Fee

Only 3 months interest free on purchases.

I would go for the Tesco Clubcard Credit Card instead.

(unless specifcally wanting a stoosing card)

this card gives you a cheap way to pay off your debt so you shouldn't really be using it for purchases...

Tesco clubcard credit card has just 9 months interest free on balance transfer, how is that better than 16 months?

You should never balance transfer AND spend on one credit card. That way you get hit by having the pay whatever is 0% interest before paying off the debt with the expensive interest.

Since 16 months is the higest balance transfer period available, and the fee is just 2.9% (all long periods have a fee) there is no better card for a balance transfer. Heat added!

(Tesco clubcard credit card would be good for purchases only, I'm not doubting that, but it is not a valid comparison to a balance transfer card.)

The Santander zero credit card offers (offered) a 0% for 12 months interest rate on balance transfers and 0% transfer fee if you already had a Santander account

Original Poster

They still do the zero card but you only get 6 months 0% now and a bit of a hassle if you're not already with santander

+1

looks good

Remember and cancel your old card, don't just cut it up as it will still count against you on credit checks.

Have had credit cards for years. Wanted a tesco one to transfer balance, given a £750.00 credit limit! This is far better. Bank of Scotland are also doing one for 13 months too!

NATWEST are offering the same.

Brrrr its getting cold in here.

Same group of companies.

BEWARE!!!!!!! remember to pay your first bill online or over the phone with a debit card even if you have set up a direct debit. The first payment is not taken by D/D. I set up my D/D 21 days before my first payment was due to go out but ended up with £12 fee and the 0% taken off.

They pretty much said tough shyte when i pleaded with them. so BEWARE.

id rather go for the virgin, sainsburys or barclays ones which offer 12 months interest free on transfers and purchases. The APR is best for Sainsburys tho but the others have different perks

The website says...

- 0% balance transfers for 16 months - when you transfer your balances … - 0% balance transfers for 16 months - when you transfer your balances within three months of account opening- 2.9% Balance transfer fee – (minimum £5), and a Typical 16.9% APR (variable)

Could you transfer a low amount and pay the £5 - then transfer a larger amount free within the three months or do they charge 2.9% on all transfers?

on all transfers

Virgin have jus changed their ts and cs so that you pay off the balance with the highest interest first.. So for those still wanting to spend on the card virgin is the way to go... That being said I will probably sign up for this one

anyone know (as they are the same company) if you can get natwest and RBS cards? already have the natwest that I did a BT last year for 15 months, wouldnt mind shifting that to this RBS when it runs out.

You can't

Can I transfer my £1000 debt from my HSBC bank account or is it credit card to credit card?

I think that there is a new charter that has been introduced where the balance with the higher interest, i.e. purchases are cleared before 0% transfers. This is quite a good deal...seems to be the longest period of interest-free for transfers.

ihmoody - Look into MBNA credit cards to transfer balances from a bank account. Virgin is part of MBNA I think. I opened an American Airlines card to get the bonus miles. Just 6 months though with a 2%...

americanairlines.co.uk/i18…bna

Sainsburysbank.co.uk is offering 12 months 0% on both balance transfers and other shopping so great if you've got a small balance to transfer and fancy a year at 0% while you put the money in a savings account ...

On any of these cards don't forget that you must keep up the minimum payments to get the 0% interest - skip a payment and they will charge you standard rates plus a fee!

How does this compare to the tesco bank one?

Cheers mpawood. could get American Airlines card then transfer to RBS

Tesco bank is 2.9% Balance Transfer Fee at 0% for 9 months

Sainsburys in 3% Balance Transfer Fee at 0% for 12 months

This is a good offer and is as long as you will get at 0% anywhere, the balance transfer fee is usually around 3%

To flexiblefish, Yes you can have RBS and Natwest cards. I just got a Natwest one and did a balance transfer at the time of application from my RBS card, no problem.

I didn't think of doing that actually. Thats a clever way to get bank overdrafts onto credit cards permanently!

Cheers mpawood. could get American Airlines card then transfer to RBS

yeah shame they won't give me one seen as though ive been with RBS for 6 years.

however other companies are willing to throw credit cards at me
