Love love love my Fabia 1.2 and despite it only being 60bhp I almost always beat everyone off the lights. Massively economical and a lovely car to drive!
I have no problem with Skoda ... I think the VRS range is great ...... But i also would not agree with .... They are basically VW's .... lol...... Getting heat though..!!

Well, OK Perhaps not totally VWs but the engines are mainly VW engines (as far as I know).
Need to change the title as you have put 31.12.12 and not 31.03.2012.

Hot deal, they are basically VWs as they have the same running gear, chassis, switch gear etc etc but it really isn't worth getting into that arguments as no doubt the usual trolls will appear.

The VRS's are a steal compared to the Seat, Audi and VW equivalents.
The floor pan and powertrain (engine, transmission and suspension) are the same as a VW Polo. Both Seat and Skoda are given some opportunity to differentiate the product in styling and product range. So basically I have to agree - they are basically a VW.
Decent car, price and finance. Hot from me.

Thats because people just think you are driving at a normal speed, not trying to race them.

They would have been better listing what was included! oO

Was a little optimistic expecting the £9k Fabia to be on 0% as well!
Skoda?! Pah!
...cold.
You will find most of the parts are shared with the Polo, solid car for the money, they don't hold the value like the VW's do unfortunately, still a great buy on a new car.
Nice deal as long as you can live with the badge and inevitable jokes.

Your better off buying a second hand 3 series

Yours sincerely

I work in a garage selling and repairing VW group cars. VW Group are a world-wide multinational and the cars share most major components. You may also find your 'German' Audi TT was assembled in Hungary, with a bodyshell from Germany, an engine from the Czech republic and a steering rack from Spain.
For a while SEAT's (Spanish) were being assembled in Belgium and VW Polos were being built in Spain. Some Passats are also built in Spain and some Skodas in Bosnia....
Skodas are great value, well made and easy to sell on the used market. They have a very good reputation now, its really only the over-50's who still have memories of the old Estelle models from the 1970's and 80's.
How economical are the fabias? I know they're a bit low on bhp, but have good torque (important), good build quality but slightly higher tax band. However, i'm not too sure the mpg figures are that good. Can you get 55-60mpg from the 1.2 on combined cycle? Otherwise, think they look great and don't doubt the quality!

Our experience with all the smaller-engined VW-group cars is that in the real world you don't get the claimed mpg. The problem is that most buyer don't drive for economy and if you work the engine hard the mpg drops sharply. This applies to most of the latest small-capacity engines from VW group.
I have the skoda fabia 1.9 TDI sport and absoloutely love it, Ok it's a 105bhp engine but I still get between 55-65mpg even on short journeys... yeah you get the usual jokes from your mates, but once they;ve had a ride in it they mostly say how good it is and well kitted out etc
... you'll always get one or two **** heads that'll wind you up though, but just goes to show you how ignorant they are.

I have bought 7 Skoda Octavia Estates for work over the past few years. Great cars. Great value. Great reliability. Great economy (small diesel). Great carrying capacity. Superb is huge. Even Jeremy Clarkson likes the Yeti. Pity that people still get hung up about the badge. In terms of value and robustness for money there is little to touch them. We have previously run Golfs and Passats so can compare with VW.

They are averagely reliable. The latest CR Diesels probably a bit below average (the latest CR Diesel Passats get the wooden spoon in our workshop). If you want the highest levels of reliability then buy Japanese or Korean.

I don't think you're beating anyone at the lights with a 1.2 Fabia, not unless they've died with laughter at someone revving the nuts off their biblically slow shopping trolley.

+1, 1.2 in a fairly heavy car lol 0-60 what ? 14 secs LOL cant even beat chavs in there 1.2 corsa

But decent deal if its what your after, would go for the vRS range though.

16.5 secs apparently!
I own a Golf now and would prefer a Octavia any day of the week, VW are not that reliable and I find you will get better service at the skoda/audi/seat dealers.

Just when you were enjoying the New Year, and thought there would be no more Skoda deals..

My friends Fabia VRS let in water through the doors.

Terrible build quality.

Coincidently just watched the episode of Red Dwarf today with that joke in it.
