cheap and nasty --- not really tasty sandwiches

;-)

If you really are suffering the credit crunch, then surely a tastier sandwich could be made at home to take with you to your workplace for less.

The sandwiches from Lidl taste fine. They're just the usual prepackaged stuff you find in most service stations or supermarkets. I've had worse from Asda at double the price.

i dont like the sound of that, if it was a loss leader then fine, but not … i dont like the sound of that, if it was a loss leader then fine, but not at lidl, i would avoid to be honest, does anyone know whos makes the sandwiches?

What difference does that make to the sandwiches - after all, would you know who makes Harrods sandwiches for instance?

Dead right. You can bet your life the quality & temperature control they will have in place will be a zillion times more stringent than those stocked in the vast majority of garages!

Pre-prepared sandwiches is not something I EVER have or would buy, but if I did, Lidl would be a long way from the bottom of the list of potential sources. I take my own professional advice on this one!

Starts Monday???

This offer has been on for ages. Also £1.99 gets you a premium deal with orange juice, fresh fruit salad and a better quality sandwich.

I think for 99p you have to question the quality of what is actually in the sandwich and who is making it.....

That real good, sandwiches are alright to be fair but i bet its only egg or tuna. Voted hot

Just cus a company undermines the vast majority, it doesnt mean the quality has been comprimised! I dont see people complaining about places like Primark who sell decent smart shirts for £3.90, compared to £25 from Debenhams. I think people need to get the image of cheap=rubbish quality out of their heads.

a prepacked sandwich is ok to eat every now and then, but if ure thinking about saving money because its £1, then make ure own sandwich and drink filtered water. Surely that will save u more

i saw these sandwiches the other day, they look like animal fesces wrapped in a pack, also the fat content is just ridiculous, not voting cold but not voting hot either.

Eewwww! Animal ....what!!????

basically what hes saying is if it looks like animal fesces that instantly means it is animal fesces.. wrapped in a sandwich.

Their BLTs are lovely and you can't complain at the price. I always get a cookie and 1ltr of Juice with it too. Love Aldi and Lidl.

I've nothing against Aldi or Lidl, but you have to be selective about what you buy. Their juices are OK, as are most yoghurts. Imported meat products (which mostly come from Germany) seem OK, but some of their other stuff is vile. I have had one of their 'ploughman's' sandwiches and it was dire. I wouldn't buy again. Also UK-source meat pies and pasties are real 'slaughterhouse slurry'. Something can be cheap AND poor value.

had one once, tasted fine. you snobs.
fancy being on a deals website and then assuming something is crap cos it's cheap

Dead right.... now show me the standard range from Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Somerfield, Coop that isn't "slaughterhouse slurry." I think the Aldi & Lidl pies & pasties are pretty poor too as it happens, but probably marginally ahead of Tesco range (got to be from the deepest PITS!), and on a dead par with the others!
Have you seen some of the brands? Gingsters, Shire pies, Pukka Pies, Peters? I would be hard pushed to pick ANY of them out in a blind tasting against ANY of the supermarkets - PUTRID.

Here is where a leap of faith is needed - if you buy ANY of this stuff, you might as well buy the cheapest, because it's all poor, my opinion is buy none of it.

After being brought up on locally sourced, small baker & butchers pies in the North East, which were comparatively cheap, and certainly pleasant tasting, it was a harsh shock when I came to the Midlands and found ONLY the supermarket ranges to be had, other than inflated prices for very ordinary pies sold as some sort of grand speciality! :-(

Why would that not happen? There are even more that assume because it is expensive or branded, it's good!
You only have to post some junk from John Lewis or M&S or Sony, and the vote heats up before anyone even bothers to check what it actually is!

Went to Lidl and asked - girl said it starts tomorrow - couldn't see any info instore about it anywhere?

I haven't checked where the sandwiches from Lidl are made but the ones in my local Aldi are all made by a local supplier and delivered daily. I'd guess Lidl do the same.

I don't understand why some people have such a problem and snobby attitude towards places like Lidl and Aldi. I bet half of them haven't even shopped there. Saying the sandwiches look like animal feces?, I mean come on . The budget foods found in Lidl are no worse than those found in Sainsburys or M&S.

No, no, no don't list Lidl offers. I don't want all the snobs going in picking up quality food at bargain prices so there is none left for me !!

I have had the sandwiches, they're fine. Bargain with the crisps and drink, but trust me, all you snobs are better off in Sainsburys or Tesco. You know where you are with those stores (being ripped off usually).

so were snobs now because we label crap as crap, interesting :?

that link shows an expired deal that was posted 4 months ago :whistling:

Has anyone else noticed how the tuna sandwich tastes of chlorine?

The tuna sandwich is definitely much higher in fat than tescos. It's a shame as the meat quality is definitely better than tescos. The tuna in tesco tuna sandwiches is like a fine paste. Try comparing the quality of tesco tuna sandwiches with Co-op. The meat in the co-op ones is quite chunky.

POOH! :whistling:

Oh you mean FAECES.
There is certainly a lot of crap spelling and grammar on the site....

why not just pop into a local sandwich shop. Depends on the type of job you have, if you can pop out at lunch time. Make your own, or go to subways, not that i've been there but at least it's a `real` freshly made sandwich

Guess it's ok for people going on a journey, or..... i dont know. Why do people buy prepacked sandwichs for anyway :-D
hey i remember going on journeys and having home made sandwichs and a flask of tea
