I doubt, blackberry would do it.
It is based on QNX, which is the OS they are going to use for new smartphones from next year.
HP can afford to do a blunder, like they did, no other company in the world would do it.

Not sure why this is cold, its a good price if you're looking for one of these. Heat added.

Think most people are holding out for them to drop more. With Amazon's announcement due on Wednesday, there could be a lot or reductions before Christmas. Heat added anyway as good price at the moment.

its a nice tablet, but be warned the screen is not quite as good at the ipads or galaxy 10" tablet
hopefully the price of all android tablet will start to drop as the market gets flooded

Best price yet, tempted. Hopefully Amazon will match as I don't like play.

Voted hot.

This is the best price I can find. If you want one now. - hot.

On the other hand, as noted above, Amazon and Apple will be announcing their new generation of tablets v. soon and other manufacturers will follow on or respond by dropping prices.
Apple have made a ceiling of about 380 - it does not look like you can sell for more than that and and HP made a floor of 120. Advent Vegas still sell at ~199.

I expect a slew of current generation tablets (not just Motorola) at 299/249 and then a few remaindered at ~199 if you are lucky.

hot

any idea of price crashes and where ?

tablet prices will continue to drop for some time to come..... it's currently just beyond the budget of the masses...

managed to get touchpad for £150.

whilst its a great device & OS the apps are limited so I'm waiting for CyanogenMod android dual boot software which is apparantly near finished.

I dont think this will have a price crash anywhere near the playbook.

Could buy a decent PC for that!

The Xoom gets good reviews since the latest update on most sites but I think the price will drop more in the coming weeks, the 3g version is still £429 on play compared to £399 at most places, and there is a rumour that Motorola are due to be releasing the Xoom 2 in the next few weeks, would probably go for the 3g version at this price but think they need to knock another £100 off the wifi version to become competitive.

This is a bit dated now and hence the low price. Needs to be £100 cheaper than the Galaxy Tab 10.1 at the moment.

Still hot though if you don't care about weight and thickness.

bought myself the xoom a few months ago - no regrets.

a few points where it wins a few points from ipad;
you can use the xoom straight from the box, unlike the ipad
xoom is HD
has USB and HDMI out
is expandable via the SD card slot
internet is faster

and from what i've noticed so far, is that the apps that you have to pay for on ipad, they seem to be free on andriod - and they are exactly the same.

You could buy "a" pc for that, but it wouldn't be decent.

Good price - heat added - but like others have said, this will probably become the normal price for this, and likely get even cheaper. Not so much because of the Amazon tablet and ipad 3 (which I don't think will be released until next spring) but because the Xoom 2 should be coming soon.

It is probably a good idea to go with Motorola if you want an Android tablet though, considering the recent acquisition by Google. I imagine even the old Xoom will get more support than others.

Can you connect this to an LCD TV then with it having HDMI?

Could get that bit hotter if so.

Hmm, £80 cheaper than the base iPad deal plus adds SD expansion card, Flash support, HDMI out, higher screen resolution, and GPS.

Hot!

Yes, you just need an adapter for the smaller-sized HDMI port on the Xoom.

Yes, I was having a good look at these tablets recently.

At this price its around £80 cheaper than the Samsung/Ipad and it has microSD, microHDMI, microUSB and flash capability (over the Ipad) also its got 32GB memory built in.

It is heavier but other than that I couldnt tell much difference. If I was going to wait, it would be for the Toshiba AT200 which looks pretty neat though who knows what price it will be.

What is this announcement everyone keeps talking about?

Hot, should be relatively futureproof and get constant updates too if Google does buy Motorola.

Much better value for money than the iFad deal.

Erm...it is £100 cheaper than the GT10.1; in fact it's £180 cheaper than the 32GB Wifi GT10.1.

Amazon expected to announce new Kindle Tablet.

pocket-lint.com/new…ive

There are not any electrical items that go up in price, so it's no good saying wait for the price to come down because we all know it will.
Dvd players, laptops,tv's and mobiles they will all come down in price as the newer models come out.
For me this is a great price for a tab,
Just a note on this compared to the Ipad....I do not miss any of the apps since I moved to Android because they have so many of their own and as they say " there is a App for everything on Iphone" but Android has flash so this more than makes up for it ten fold.
Why would you always want apps when you have super fast internet.

it's not a touchpad though

Sadly it would seem this tablet is let down by Motorola not updating the software as there appears there are some issues with the Wi Fi and the SD card slot (software issues) I was really tempted untill I started to read the reviews of present owners.

Is it underpowered? 1Ghz, single core processor?

Picked up a Dell Inspiron 15R N5110 from the outlet store for £302 delivered at the weekend, i3-2310M, 640GB HD, 4GB RAM, 15.6" Screen and windows 7 64 bit. I'd say that was a decent machine for the same sort of money...

This has not been true for some time now. Just install Android 3.1 as soon as you get it (unless it's already on there) and all is sorted.
I got mine a couple of weeks ago and the free bluetooth keyboard & mouse arrive this morning.
This is a good package.
As previously noted, many more apps are free than on iOS.

If it's just a 1Ghz processor then yes. Xoom and Samsung are both dual cores, my 2 year old phone is just as fast as their future tablet. I wouldn't bother with it.

That was my thinking so far too, but I have an impression that Amazon are going to be aiming at the budget end of the market. The sort of consumer who likes the idea of having a new tablet toy but is happier paying £200 rather than £400 and doesn't need/want all the cutting edge tech. Could be a smart move as in my opinion there is definitely room at the 'cheaper' end of the market for a big player like Amazon who have the rep to get people interested. If they can produce a decent budget product of course....

Mate just bought yesterday, tested it out all day, I'm impressed with it. Bought for £317.

I don't if this deal will qualify for the motorola promotion as the drop down meanu of retailers is only PC World/Currys/Dixons, Amazon, JL

"might as well get Ipad 2..." bet thats all that is in here

MRP

COLD will only get cheaper

dumb post. every gets cheaper as tme goes until time goes when people will get rid of them for free. I might as well vote cold on all electronic offers from now on

Is this a deal at the moment... yes it is as its the cheapest about today so that means its Hot.

It seems that the top dog android tablets are the Asus Transformer and Xoom so if you are looking for a tablet that is android based then you can't really go wrong at this price.

And for all those saying that it will get cheaper well that is the world we live in tech gets cheaper over time so you can wait as long as you like, but keep in mind that tech also gets outdated over time so the longer you wait the near the new model gets to coming out then you'll start all over again!
Also yeah its not a touchpad cost but you trying getting that deal now... that one has sailed.
