Universal remote control bargain seems to be at least £50 elsewhere. Seems to be a good one from the reviews.

OOH THANKS THATS INTERESTING:-D

well i got one of these when it was last on special at currys and i personally think it was worth it...everything i tried to program works a treat ....is a little bit big ....but i like it and would get another if i needed one.

Yep anything in DSG which is marked £X.97 is E.O.L

I have a Kameleon 6 in 1, and it's fantastic.

I got the Kameleon 6 in 1 from Maplins when it was £14.99 a few months ago but I could not get it to work with my Samsung DVD/HD recorder so I am dubious about buying them.

Completely agree I got one in January when it was this price in Currys (advertised on HUKD) great piece of kit. Like you say a little big but took me all of 10 mins to set up all my things and now I wouldn't do without it. Lights up nicely too when you touch the screen. Well worth this money IMO.

you are right but what the hell is "standed"?

Do these things compare to the Sony RM series of remotes? i.e. RM2000 / 3000.

Voted hot.

Personally, I think these are a horrible shape to use, and for this sort of money I'd much rather a Logitech Harmony remote, but each to their own.......and I realise some people like the pretty touch screen ;-)

Do take into consideration that if you (like me) are the type of person who uses a remote without looking at it, by feel only, then this going to be really frustrating remote to use as here are no buttons to feel for.

but only if you're illiterate.

I bought one of these back in January too, they do everything I needed and a few things more. I particularly like the 'macro' mode, where the remote control can perform a sequence of events at the touch of just one button, for example, turning on a plasma tv and then the seperate set top box.
Disadvantages? well, I find the shape somewhat awkward, the 'wave' shape to the bottom means that it's almost impossible to just press a button without picking the remote up, trying to do this means it either wobbles from side to side or if it's on a smooth surface like a table top it will skid off to one side.
The top and bottom edges of the remote whilst not exactly sharp are very angular. The body is made from metal and combining that with the weight of the batteries means that if you drop it on a wood/veneer table it will make a serious dent/scratch on the furniture.
oh! light controllers are available for this remote control too!! hope all of the above helps!

reserved one for pick up at my local store thanks:thumbsup:

you can download new codes from their website also it has a learning facilty that can clone codes from your old remote

don't talk about being illiterate with a name like cowkiller.

Yeah I got one too during the last offer and I returned this after a few days for a refund. I found it way too heavy and like previous posts have mentioned, the shape and finish are lethal to a wooden floor/furniture, body etc. Also, it was really cold to hold. And worst off, I had a lot of trouble getting it to work with my Humax 9200 PVR so it had to go. I think the Loitech Harmonys would be they way I'd go next around.

Hi does this work with tv vcr combo tv's? Lost remote for mine and it's one which does everything using the remote (tuning etc) so tv pretty useless without it.

Good piece of kit with some limitations. Buy some rechargeables, mine eats batteries for fun.
Hot at the price.

Not a bad price for the control, but if and when I spend £50+ on a remote (i know this is £35, but I'd rather spend a bit more and get a bit more), I think the way to go is definately Harmony 555 as I'm led to believe the user interface is easier and programming a doddle.

Voted hot, because I realise that not everyone will want to spend much more than this on a replacement RC

Does this work with Sky+?

I have both the Kameleon 6 in 1 and the Harmony and prefer the Kameleon. It does have some tactile feedback - you can feel the buttons and there is travel when you press them - and it is much simpler than the Harmony to use - you don't need to go through a PC wizard to program it and you don't need to scroll through screens to find functions.

I have never had the problem reported above of excessive battery use.

The Harmony has cool automation functions which switches on your surround and dvd player and tv at the same time, but that's presuming you're happy to leave all these things in standby (which I am not any more) and also that your partner or kid doesn't pick up a different remote and switch on the tv while leaving the surround in standby for example - then everything gets out of sync and the there is a distinct lack of Harmony.

I would put it this way: if you want to replace all your remotes and automate lots of processes get the Harmony, and put all the other remotes away in a drawer. If however you're the sort of person whose kids are always losing various remotes under cushions or down the back of the settee get the kameleon because it's reliable, does everything and it's hard to lose (being quite large).

Kameleon remotes have good novelty value, but that's all they have in my opinion.

You can't beat the Harmony, and if someone is looking at a remote in this price range, go for the Harmony 525 over this - anyday.

I tried both to no avail. It would not learn from my remote . I told the guy in Maplin who said they are not meant for HD/DVD recorders , very odd

Are these genuinely easy to programme (Virgin cable, dvd, tele) and use. Even for a proper div?

How much are the Harmony ones? Thanks
