What’s it all about?
  • Create up to 100 listings on eBay.co.uk in an eligible category
  • Listings must start during the promotional period
  • Listings can be auction-style or fixed price format
  • Pay a maximum of £1 per listing in final value fees if the item sells.
  • The promotion start and end dates are included in the email we send to invited sellers.
  • Item must sell within the first listing period.

Sounds good, where do I find the promotion and how do I sign up? You can take part in the promotion on eBay.co.uk. In the first instance, we’ll send you an email with an RSVP link to the offer. You must opt in to the promotion by clicking on this link before any of your 100 listings start.

Anything else I need to know? You won’t pay an insertion fee for each of the 100 listings. Listing upgrade fees will still apply and will be charged according to the eBay fees policy.

The number of listings eligible under this promotion may be less where seller restrictions apply. Click here to learn more about selling allowances.

Who can take part?
  • This promotion is open to all registered private sellers who have been invited to take part and have actively opted in. Participation is linked to the seller’s account and is not transferable.
  • Only sellers whose accounts meet eBay minimum seller performance standards are eligible. Please sign in to My eBay and view your seller standards dashboard to verify whether your account is currently meeting the standards. The seller standards dashboard is available to all sellers here.
  • If you registered after 15 March 2011 or haven’t listed any items for a while, you may have a listing allowance of 10 items per month or of £650 per month, whichever is reached first. You may be able to increase this allowance by providing additional verification.
  • An eligible item previously scheduled to go live during the promotional period will qualify for the promotion only if you have opted in to the promotion before the listing starts.
  • If an item that is eligible for the promotion had previously closed without a successful sale and is re-listed during the promotion period, it will form a part of the 100 listings limit of the promotion. You will not receive a refund of your original insertion fee if the item sells.
  • Listings do not have to successfully sell during the promotional period to be eligible.
  • If an item qualifies for the promotion and when the item sells, the invoice will indicate the fee including the discount. Please note: if the item does not sell the first time and if you relist it after the promotional period or if it is automatically relisted during the promotional period, standard final value fees will be charged according to the eBay fees policy when the relisted item sells.
  • Items that are automatically relisted through the Automatic relist function or the Good ‘Till Cancelled function will be charged.
  • Only single quantity listings are eligible.
  • For items listed in 2 or more categories, only the insertion fee for the first category is included. Standard insertion fees will be charged for listing the same item for each additional category, according to the eBay fees policy.
  • Free listings in this promotion do not count towards your monthly 1000 free listings.
  • Your first listing period may vary and is dependent on the listing format you choose (e.g. – auction-style vs buy-it-now), the duration of the listing you choose and the listing experience you use. The first listing period will be considered to have been ended when the listing you create first renews or relists.

Restrictions & exclusions The following are excluded from the promotion:
  • Business sellers
  • Sellers who have been invited to participate, but have not actively opted in to the promotion via the RSVP link shown in the marketing communication.
  • All items listed in the Cars, Motorcycles & Vehicles and Property categories. However items listed in the Vehicle Parts & Accessories category are included.
  • Items listed in the Classified Ad format.
  • Auction-style listings ended early.
  • Identical listings that don’t comply with our duplicate listings policy.
  • Any item listed that doesn’t comply with eBay listing policies or prohibited and restricted items policies.
  • Any item listed during the promotional period but scheduled to start after the promotional period.
  • Listings that are automatically relisted through the Automatic relist function or the Good ‘Till Cancelled function during the promotional period.
  • Listings that are listed during the promotional period but do not sell and are relisted outside of the promotional period.
  • Multi-quantity listings.
  • Listing upgrade fees apply and will be charged according to the eBay fees policy.
  • PayPal and any other third-party fees still apply.
  • Final value fees apply for Second Chance Offers.

Additional terms
  • Any attempt to manipulate this promotion, or past promotions will lead to automatic exclusion from participation.
  • eBay reserves the right to suspend, change or cancel the promotion at any time, in the event of circumstances arising which, in eBay's opinion, make it necessary for it to do so. eBay reserves the right to add additional terms and conditions for certain parts of this promotion.
  • eBay also reserves the right to exclude users on the basis that their seller accounts have fallen below the minimum required seller performance standards. Sellers should confirm eligibility by checking their account status on My eBay.
  • The decision of eBay regarding any aspect of this promotion is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Beware of another scam they do - they will offer you FREE upgrades like larger photos on some listings etc... but when it relists you will often get charged full whack on those too and not realise. Also when they relist, there is NO notification that the item has ended or relisted - it just continues... Why no email notification telling you your item has effectively ended and been relisted?? Everything is designed to catch you out and make money through scam tactics (edited)

Just a warning for those sellers not aware. Do not use ebays Packlink postal service. There are a number of reasons why but recently they have been sending false extra charges for so called 'oversized' parcels sent months ago and when you agreed to T&C's to originally place the order, you agreed to let them take further payment at any time. Paypal have been siding with Packlink in some disputes even though they are not supplying any evidence. I realise this sounds a little unbelievable and seems like there must be more to it but read the stories on the ebay sellers chat board or see recent reviews and then decide if you want to risk it. If you have previously used Packlink I would suggest you go into your paypal account settings and cancel the pre-approved payment agreement you have with them before you fall victim to this scam too!

Anyone know what selling price point this 'offer' actually makes it …Anyone know what selling price point this 'offer' actually makes it worthwhile for using? Most my stuff seems to sell for pennies in the past, then with fees and PayPal fee, I practically end up losing money by driving the stuff to the post office! I've got a load of stuff to get rid of, so don't know whether this offer is worth me getting started trying to shift it all at the most stressful time of year, or whether I should just do it at a normal non-offer time and save myself the stress

The normal selling fees are 10%
So this offer of £1 is only going to benifit you if your selling for more than £10. So something you sell for £20 would normally have £2 fees (10%) but on this promotion will only be £1.
The other fees, i.e. PayPal are still going to be the same sadly.
If you are selling things under £10 then make sure the postage fee you advertise covers you for driving to the post office and packing the product! (they are P&P costs afterall!).
Or maybe if the value is so low you would be better selling your items on facebook market place or gumtree both of which are free to advertise and more geared up to people collecting from you rather than posting like most ebay items.

No need to go for any extras. And with £1 offers every 2 weeks there is no excuse not to just delist and relist.

So buy unwanted items at inflated prices, apply the 20% voucher and get a sense of bagging a deal (yay!) and then sell back at £1 max selling fee (double yay !!) sounds about right for eBay

HMRC are w*nkers for going after the little man trying to make extra cash. The UK's suppose to be a power economy, but earns less than the Aussies. Just hate HMRC for wanting a slice of the little man trying hard to make a small profit.

It saddens me with what the austerity had done to the country I live in. They are squeezing a slice from the average Joe is just fecking wrong.

Like the mods on here? Only joking!

The mods here are very on the ball, but only on certain serious topics, like Yankee Candles lol - if you say anything bad about a Yankee Candle they will be on you like wildfire - I still have bruises, scarring and mental trauma from my last encounter. The worst thing you can ever do on Hotukdeals is criticise a Yankee Candle deal. If you ever see a Yankee Candle deal, always say they are really good and people should buy them and just nod. Yes but sometimes the offers don't always work for some and some will. So it still deserves the heat

FFS, I just sold £150 worth of goods..

But then again, I have sold about 10 grands worth of stuff using their £1 fees over the last six months, so swings and roundabouts really.
  20. Avatar
Just a heads up, I got my ebay invoice today and was not given the £1 FVF on anything (which was over 2 separate offers) and charged full price. I contacted customer services and they have thankfully corrected it (almost £50 of a difference).

I was also told that if you change the buy it now price on your listing, then the promotion would no longer apply, but due to me not being aware of this they would apply the discount. This has never been the case the countless times I've used the promotion in the past, so might be something to check when you next get billed by ebay.
    Heat added!

If you sell using auctions and start them at 99p, then it is!

I made that mistake in the past. Ended up practically giving stuff away. Not any more ...

If you're listing as auction, set the start price at the minimum you're willing to accept. Well worth doing while this offer is on. Alternatively, list them as buy it now at a sensible/fair price. At least then you have 30 days of them up for sale with this offer applied, rather than the 10 (maximum) you get on an auction. The other thing I've noticed is BIN often seems to sell quicker than an auction. Auctions only seem to get much interest if they are a rare/collectible item. Stuff that can be had commonly on ebay is generally easier to sell BIN. Think folk just want the instant purchase, not faff about trying to win an auction at the end.

Buyers are (obviously) after a bargain. If you give them the chance of something for 99p, they'll take it!

No point selling at a loss ... (edited)

In that case, put in a higher starting price use buy-it-now at a price that you are happy with and covers fees and postage. I use BIN (with offers accepted) most of the time now and just sit tight. £1 selling fee still applies.

One of the things that irritates me the most is if you do a collection only item, there is NO way to remove Paypal as a payment option(!!). This has caused me so many problems it's unreal. You always get idiot buyers not reading the listings AT ALL and paying with Paypal. It's against Paypal rules to even use Paypal for a collection only item (Paypal have made clear to me many times that you can't put Paypal as a payment option if it's a collection only item and you have to put cash on collection only, as they require online trackable proof of delivery, and yet ebay stupidly make it compulsory - there is no way to remove it!! I've complained about this so many times and nothing gets done - their website is garbage). I constantly have situations where buyers pay for collection only items using Paypal and don't read the listings. They are always on the other side of the country and refuse to collect the item and then demand I send it out (usually for free lol!!). They then force a refund through item not received and don't get an unpaid strike as it shows you received payment(!!). So many things that irritate me about ebay - I don't know what on earth they do with all their profits. The website hasn't had £2.50 invested in it over the last 10 years. (edited)

??? Absolutely no way this is true. Also - it doesn't 'end' and get 'relisted' - it just continues past the 1 month period... it silently puts you onto paying fees if it sells. These changes were done ages ago by ebay and were site wide. (edited)
