Here is the e-mail with all the details:

Good afternoon,

We are delighted to tell you that we are going to release another 500 rooms at only £1 with hundreds more available at £29, £59 and £79 on:

Friday 17th November 2006 at 12.30pm (GMT)

Please don’t click yet as they are not available until Friday.

The rooms are available to book online at www.hoxtonhotels.com from 12.30pm (GMT) on Friday 17th November 2006.

• 500 rooms at only £1 will be available between January 2nd and April 9th 2007. That is 5 rooms each night and once these are sold, there will be hundreds more rooms available at £29, £59 and £79. Once all the rooms made available at £29 have been sold, the rate will then increase to £59 and then to £79 and so on.

• You can only book a maximum of 1 room at a rate of £1. If you have booked more than 1 room at this rate, we reserve the right to cancel all your £1 reservations, even though you will have received your booking confirmation. Please note, it is possible to book more than 1 room – however, we will NOT honour your booking. Please give everyone a chance.

• Once you have received a booking confirmation by e-mail, your credit card will be charged immediately. As per our terms and conditions, this amount is non-refundable and the date of your booking cannot be changed. UK Debit cards cannot be accepted for this promotion (don’t ask why!):

The Big Print:

Stupid system problems that our software suppliers cannot provide a satisfactory explanation for – sorry!. When booking rooms, you may get the following messages. We have translated these from IT talk into the English language:

1. “You are trying to select a range of dates where we have no vacancy on at least one day for the room you have selected”. In English, this means, the hotel is full on one or more of the dates selected. Please try again.

2. “Invalid Rate Type”. In English, this means, there are no more rooms at £1. Please try another date or another rate.

3. "Connection timed out”. In English, this means, the system is experiencing large volumes of users trying to book rooms. You have not finished confirming this booking and will need to re-start the booking process - Sorry.

Hands up all those that think their website might be a little slow come 12.20pm today ?

its a shame they don't take Debit cards

Worth bumping

So if I read this right:

I can only have one room for one night at £1.

If I want two rooms I pay a different price - whatever that is (£29+ I guess).

If I want more than one night I pay a different prize (£29+ ?).

There goes the weekend in London for £4 (2 nights, 2 adults 2 kids). It'll be more like £88, which I guess still isn't too bad.

David

it doesn't say anything about a restriction on a £29/£59 room so I'm thinking you can book for atleast a couple of nights at that price if you can get it? Or will they just cancel it?

So if I book a room for one night and my partner books a room for the next night that should be a 2 night break in London for £2.. depending on how quick we can book it.

Why do you think you can't book for more than 1 night ? it only says bookings of more than 1 room may be cancelled.

i was there when the timer dropped to zero but couldnt get a single 1 pound room.

strange, i found loads for £1! we've decided to leave it though.

Tried booking but weekends were already full in most cases!

What a con!!! I had the GMT website on my screen, had my date already in their, hit book as soon as it hit 12:30:00 and couldnt find a single room for £1. It took me 3mins to go through all the dates systematically and not a single day was their for £1. What a con !!!!

I found a £1 room but when I tried booking it I couldn't.

David

yep £1 room thing did seem bit of a con. but i did get valentines nite for £29 for me and the girl so not all bad

No £1 rooms but I have booked 2 rooms at £29 which is still very cheap.

Just off to book some cheap train tickets now.

Seems a bit of a con to me. Wanted it for my birthday, filled in all the details, and what do you know, none available!
:x :x :x

I managed to get 2 rooms for the night of 3rd March at £1 per room. I read the restriction that you can only book one room per person. As 4 people will be staying I can book 2 rooms....?

no way is it a con, im still seeing rooms for £1

The offer is closed now it seems!

Got one for a Sunday night in January. Thanks to the OP.

Actually have managed to get 1 night in april for £1 using the non-flash version of the site, selecting promotional rates, thanks to the poster of that.

Can anybody see any available Friday or Saturday dates? I have checked over 20 on the reservations.ihotelier.com link. I still cant find ANY! :whistling:

Doh - forgot about that night!(valentines) I managed to get a sat night for £29 so that's pretty good.

No friday or saturday nights available, but their are a couple of midweek rooms available for £1.

Hey, isn't that cool if you get to see someone else from hotukdeals when you stay there?

I got my £1 room for 10th January.

No sign of any rooms under £59 (one or two to be precise !) , most are around £99 for a Sat night stay unless I'm being stupid..........

I've tried both the flash and no flash site now but with no luck !

Getting 'currently this rate is not available, call the hotel directly'

all over?

there are some £79 doubles in march still on there

ah, but its the pound we want :-)

if you read the home page it says they were all gone within half an hour ]http//ww…om/ OR
even the 1st page on here explainining things like what "currently this rate is not available" means

I booked a room today for th e22nd march 07....it was al confiremd onlin but have not received any confirmation by email paid £1 ....?

I booked a room on the Friday night in my name, and the Saturday night in my mrs name. Apart from having to check out and back in again, do you think I will have any problems with the hotel?

Rather clever I thought.

-----

Im not new, I just fancied a change.

I managed to get my room for a quid as someone said had to go through the no flash site.

Already received email confirmation of the booking. You get free brekkie too thrown in not bad for a quid. And plus it's only a ten min walk to work from there!

I thought you could book 1 room for more than 1 night , wasn't the restriction - 1 room only. Mind you, I did pay £29 pounds a night.

Nope, from what I tried it was a max of one night for the £1 deal.

I got 2 rooms in January for £2 (£1 each).

It also includes continental breakfast, LCD TV, FREE Wi-Fi connection.

With the £12 return train fare, (2x £6 singles of course!!) from Ipswich, it's a bargain £26 night out for us all!

They all sold out in £35 mins and as said above those without broadband would have been out of look because it was really busy on there.
