Morrisons 1 kilo of frozen minced beef £2.72, 16% fat which is excellent value in comparison to other brands and budget. I bought it in store, presumably an in store deal.

Deal of the day surely.
I just noticed it is frozen mince. I haven't bought frozen mince before. Does it have added water like the frozen chicken? Does it taste as good as fresh?

For me it's a different texture, but for that price is pretty good.

Ooh cool, I cook homemade dog food for me and a mate, which we also can eat, every little helps
very high fat content though!

very high fat content though!

16% is pretty low for beef to be honest. I think it may be because it has added water though. The best thing to look for is the ratio of protein to fat. At the bare minimum you want more protein than fat.

We are talking about beef mince and not steak mince. Tesco sells this one tesco.com/gro…215 which has 19.8% fat and they do cheaper stuff which is worse. This Morrisons stuff therefore looks better but really you need to see if the ratio of protein to fat is better.

I'd have thought with frozen meat, all the water lost when thawed will reduce the weight.
As for fat, I always nuke beef mince in the microwave for a few minutes and pour the bulk of the fat away before using it (yes also reduces the weight).

I'd have thought with frozen meat, all the water lost when thawed will reduce the weight/actual content of the 'meat'.
As for fat, I always nuke the cheapest fresh beef mince in the microwave for a few minutes and pour the bulk of the fat away before using it. Always personally found the Morrison's beef mince best compared to Asda, Lidl etc.
Not worth a new post

Also carrots for 32 pence kilo. Very cheap way of keeping the rabbits happy. They learn very quickly, and sit begging by the window.

That's premium lean steak mince and is an awful lot more expensive, with homemade dog food they need 15 - 20%.

It's cook from frozen, I don't find it watery at all.
