I find the large chain DIY stores make a packet on all those extras that you need when you buy things like garden equipment. I needed some 4 stroke oil (aka 5w30 or SAE30) for my lawnmower & found a litre of unbranded, generic DIY store oil to be around £8-£9. Then found, quite by accident, that Screwfix do a litre for £3.99. Good reviews.
This is the regular price at Screwfix, but I believe it is a deal compared to the DIY store pricing.
I hope this helps some of you.
They have 2 stroke oil at the same price screwfix.com/p/n…281
And they even have "branded" Mountfield oil for £5.99 screwfix.com/p/m…43g

I use 5w30 car synthetic oil in all my mowers without issues. Just change every season and you can use pretty much use any 4 stroke mineral / semi of fully synthetic brand. After all it's a mower not a car engine...:p
Lovely with a pinch of mustard and some balsamic vinegar (no, really, don't!)
Yes, the Screwfix oil is good value - and even better in the 5L size (£17.99), although this appears to be for 'next day delivery' at branches. I could not find the equivalent SAE30/5w30 oil at a better price from e.g. motor accessory dealers (although Eurocarparts often offers an extra discount) and the beneficial 'additives' may not be the most suitable for a mower.
