I don't usually post 1 night stays for this price, but really felt I had to share this as it is an amazing place to eat & stay, has some of the best reviews I've seen at multiple review sites & is a steal at this price!

Sadly arrivals on a Fri / Sat night are subject to a 2 night minimum stay with dinner included on both nights, but you can book Sun - Thurs for just 1 night for £135.

When You Can Go

About the Hotel

  • The hotel holds four AA Silver Stars and the Derwent Restaurant has an AA Rosette

  • The Trout Hotel has been at the heart of the pretty gem town of Cockermouth for several centuries. Going back to 1670, the hotel was first built as a private residence for the Egremont Estate. It was known as Sandclose and remained so, until it became the Lakes Hotel in 1934.In the 1960s, as trout and salmon fishing became popular on the River Derwent and River Cocker, the hotel changed its name to the Trout Hotel and over the years, became a favourite retreat of Hollywood legend Bing Crosby, who loved to visit for fishing breaks.

Hmm something .........fishy about this!? WWWOOOOOOOOO
Very nice place- recovered well from the floods two years ago. I live just down the road - much nicer than the Travelogdge on the outskirts.

If staying I'd avoid Scale Force as mentioned in the blurb - you can barely see the waterfall as its location in Whinlater forest and almost always obscured by the trees.

Buttermere / Crummock Water are amazing locations as is Loweswater - the Kirkstile Inn pub is well worth a visit - actually these 3 are a very easy cycle from Cockermouth.
