I do not usually post 1 night short breaks at this sort of price, but the Hotel is genuinely amazing, the food is delicious & the rooms are gorgeous, so with Valentines Day fast approaching, I thought it worth sharing for the romantics! (husband take heed, a night in a tent & a bottle of water may have been enough a few years ago, but the rose tinted glasses are very much scratched these days )

Hotel & Restaurant have outstanding reviews too. We have friends that stayed here a few years ago, they loved it so much, they now go back at least twice every year (and often paying full price if they can't find an offer like this)

When You Can Go

Until 11 Mar - you can check availability online

What is included

Accommodation in a Superior Room which comes with a king size bed, free Wi-Fi, and a state of the art Bang & Olufsen audio visual system with a selection of CD’s and DVD’s. Enjoy a coffee from your Nespresso coffee machine or a bottle of complimentary water from your mini bar whilst viewing the original artwork in each bedroom. Molton Brown toiletries ensure you can enjoy your deep set bath or monsoon shower, plus all the usual bedroom facilities you would expect.

  • A 3-course à la carte dinner each in the Cerise restaurant (worth up to £51 per person)
  • A glass of prosecco on arrival (worth £9 per person)
  • Late checkout until 1pm (worth £30)
  • You can book extra nights with everything included at the same price (most 2nd nights do not inc the dinner)

About the Hotel

The Forbury Roseate is all about the design -- from the designer fabrics and rugs to the American walnut floors, it is seriously stylish throughout. There's bold colour and contemporary art on every wall. The real showstopper is the Italian 86,000 glass-bead chandelier that descends from the ceiling to the ground floor and is housed in the old lift shaft. And while the décor is sleek and minimalist, the high, vaulted ceilings, panelled walls and period features keep its Grade II-listed townhouse feel.

The hotel's Cerise restaurant is decorated with bold splashes of cerise pink and there’s also a Moroccan-inspired secret garden for dining al fresco. Alternatively, you can sample a cocktail or choose from the distinguished wine list in the Cerise Cocktail Bar, or opt for afternoon tea, served between 2-5pm. You can even sit back and relax in front of a film in the hotel's private cinema.

Nearby

Reading town centre and its choice of riverside restaurants are a 5-minute walk from the hotel and the charming riverside towns of Henley-on-Thames, Marlow and Bray are all less than 30 minutes' drive away. Basildon Park -- a National Trust Georgian stately home with a tea room and garden -- in the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is around 30 minutes' drive from the hotel. The racecourses of Newbury, Ascot and Windsor are also all nearby.

Who the hell would want to go on a short break to Reading???
It was doing well until I realised it was in Reading. Best thing about it is the motorway out.
