    In it's time... it's time being 1990s.

Alnwick castle is about 30 minutes and the advert is probably still from when people went to see Harry Potter castle 20 years ago.

This was a great hotel when it was modern.

@baldybob is absolutely right about this changing hands as Marriott sold this dated hotel to a budget brand who sell it as a budget hotel. You could probably pay less at premier inn or travel lodge and get the same 'experience'.

Yep, absolutely spot on with the date.
I used to live not far from there.

Changed hands and name it seems.
A Marriott hotel last time I was there, possibly for a wedding venue.
A top hotel in its time for the area.

I find it funny that the only two landmarks listed are the racecourse (a short walk away) and Alnwick Castle (30 mile away). This hotel looks dated and is in need of a refresh. Sadly it has found itself in budget ownership as opposed to the once well respected Marriott it was. There are much better options in the area, and there are also a lot of decent attractions within 30 miles of the hotel. Newcastle city centre for a start. Northumberlandia isn't far away.
