Why cold?

Because it's trash. It's a stitch-up between Norton and computer vendors; only an idiot buys anti-virus, when there are free versions as good OR BETTER - in many, many, many independent studies.

AND the free ones won't install Yahoo / Ask toolbars or other crapware.

Cold. Like ice.

Norton is ruddy malware! Really slugs your PC. Avoid.
Get something free like Avast.

I hate these threads because they always descend into the "my antivirus is better than yours" rubbish. Its a good deal for Norton if your looking to purchase it end of.

Pre Symantec Norton was the dogs danglies [anyone else remember Norton Commander?] - then started to slow down the computer, rather than speed it up. "norton" in name only now.

Try Avast or AVG [free]

Fully agreed.. People Not voting on basis of a deal.. Rather "i dont like this product.. I dont buy branded locks as will get 50p .locks in chinese market " come on guys.. Vote for the deal.. Now a days Norton products are brilliant.

Heat added, as it's a great deal, regardless of the pros or cons

Don't pay for antivirus.

I am sorry but no, this is not a good product. If you want to apply a heavy overhead to your PC and slow it down buy Norton.
This is not about my AV is better than yours, Norton does do a good job but a at a heavy loss to your computer performance.
I am a computer professional and have measured the effect on various models; the finding were that some of the lightweight AV products perform equally well without the effects of slowing down your PC.
Products such as Norton are good in an Enterprise environment, but not on individual PCs.

Independent trials almost invariably say they are NOT brilliant, compared with AVG and AVAST - which are free.

How can £14.99 conceivably be better value than FREE - unless you like crapware all over your PC?

Can U show me some of these independent trials?
