I have a funny feeling it wont look anything like that picture

Luvly jubbly, boshed inside a pitta with hot chilli sauce, looks just like that...............

Are these any good?

not had sainsburys ones, but there used to be Canadian ones years ago and they were yummy

How can "steak" be 78% beef? sounds like processed cr**

It's not steak that's why. They are "Sandwich Steaks"

Wouldn't touch with a barge pole. Rump steak is so cheap, even the Organic stuff can be picked up for £14 a kilo. Buy that. No excuse to eat this rubbish.

I've had the ASDA version. They make a nice change and can be cooked from frozen. I stick 2 or 3 in a sandwich and they are surprisingly decent. They remind me a little of kebab meat.

22% cow poo, as it wasn't dealt with correctly in the slaughter house, as the poo is from the cow, it can be classed as pure beef

Sorry, but there is a lot of people in Britain at the moment who can not afford to buy any kind of meat at £14 kg oO

LCM food; I wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

These are fine, I often use one ripped up when making a pizza. Of course its not a steak, but at 50p its a bargain.

Ah did anyone here watch that channel four documentary called 'food unwrapped'? You might want to watch it before you buy stuff like this. :-)

Its hardly a surprise, where do you think cheap meat comes from?

At 5p a steak I'm sure they are really good for you! Made from meat blasted off bones , swept up off the floor then stuck together with glue! You get what u pay for with food!

I know my wife will enjoy this she likes something long and a mouth full of beef.

Sounds like you need to get her away from the countryside.

Cost != quality, always amuses me when people think it does. These are no worse than thinly sliced beef burgers.

That doesn't fill me with confidence.

nice find - I shall get a few packs for the freezer, should help a little come winter when I seem to spend all my money on gas :-(

Why do people like you come in to these threads to show everyone how great you are for only eating good food and how wrong everyone else is for not doing the same as you. Well move over Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.... Posty eats rump steak and we're all very impressed.

No food snobbery here...I'm just made up that someone else is old enough to remember Steak Canadians too.

Can some1 link me to it online? thx

Almost 20% fat.
That alone doesn't worry me specifically despite trying to lose a bit of weight; but it does mean these are well over twice the calories per weight of 'real' beef.

Online link here; note it's just the frame, not the whole site.
Sainsburys actually make it HARD for you to link to their products. How stupid.

That's pretty much exactly what they are.

Grill them until they're good and crispy, pile a load of them into a roll with some lettuce and sliced tomato - nom nom nom.

I've never understood the food snobbery we get on here. Sure I love a good steak, a nice fat pork chop, I make an amazing steak chilli lasagne even if I do say so myself (takes 2 days though!). Thing is, I don't eat like that all the time. I'm not even sure I'd want to. For the times in between, what is wrong with the odd burger or kebab? One of my favourite foods is haggis, about as far from a prime cut as you can get but bloody lovely!

On the plus side, the food snobs do drive down the prices of the lesser cuts for the rest of us.

EDIT: Actually, I wonder if I could use these as a layer in a lasgne? A 'steak' and cheese layer, may need a little something else for moisture, but would be an interesting experiment. Would still need to lightly fry them first, I think I may have to try this!

Oh yeah, they also have chinese belly pork slices, jumbo burgers and chipotle sausages all from their BBQ range down to 50p as well. Got some of the belly pork from Stafford yesterday.

It'd be cheaper to burn the steaks for heat than using gas!

Just because you are 'too good for them' yourself doesn't mean you have to undermine people that do like them and are maybe on a budget. Don't be ignorant people.

These are so full of fat you don't need any oil!

Yeah, but in a good way. You just throw these meat-sheets into a hot pan, they crinkle at the edges letting out all the fat which they fry in, and if you pat that off with a paper towel at the end they've probably got only 20% of the fat stated on the ingredients. I really like them and they were always a treat when I was a kid.

Half the people screeching about food quality on here make me laugh because we all know that what you actually eat is what your carer brings you.

There's a joint interest in encouraging people to stop eating **** food, Sure, you save some money now, but what about when you're in line for a heart bypass or cancer treatment? think it's worth it then?

Do your BODY a favour, stop buying rubbish meat, and stop eating so much of it.

Surely that's just bullsh1t

Good price, although they taste like crap!!!

None in Cwmbran because I had the last two (thanks OP) but in the end freezer they had 2 jumbo burgers 340g 50p, Peri-Peri chicken wings 700g £1.24, and about 3 other varieties all half price. Good number of packs of each but wouldn't leave it until Monday if you're a swooper.

Out of interest, what percentage of your household income do you suggest people spend on food?

Better yet, do your body and favour and work out what you're putting in versus what you're burning and the macro nutrients your body needs.

So far I have seen very little conclusive evidence that 'clean eating' helps anything but keeping your wallet light.

Have a look at the rebuttal to 'supersize me' where he loses weight and gains muscle by eating foods considered pretty 'bad' in pop culture.

Been all over Wolverhampton area was tpld not available this side on London so why advertise. Its false representation and not fair . Very angry customer
