10% Cashback on all Purchases from Morrisons (excl petrol) - When You Use Your Halifax Debit Card

Hi there...

I have just opened up a Halifax current account and so far everything seems to be going well. Took advantage of the £100 they give you when you switch from another bank.

When I started using Internet Banking, I found a section called "Cashback Extras" which you need to sign up to, as not automatically enrolled to when you use internet banking and every month there are new cashback rewards, which you need to activate to take advantage of.

This month they are offering 10% cashback on all Morrisons in-store purchases, when you use the debit card linked to the current account you use on the Cashback Extra website.

So far I am doing pretty well... As well as food shopping I have also purchased loads of Gift Vouchers for different companies as Christmas presents for friends from in-store, and I am also taking advantage of the 1p off a litre of fuel for every £10 voucher you purchase offer to.

With this being the most expensive month for food shopping for most people, the 10% cashback will come in handy when paid in January!

From what I can see it is on all debit card transactions in-store and just the Petrol Station that is excluded, as the in-store purchases are showing on the Cashback Extra website, regardless of what I buy.

I am also taking advantage of 4% Cashback on Texaco petrol, so for every £50 I'm putting in, getting £2 back! Better than Clubcard points and fortunately a few Texaco petrol stations near me and the same price as the supermarkets!

Please be aware the offer is dealt with exclusively through Halifax and no point discussing it with staff in Morrisons as it is not advertised. Nothing shows on the receipts, you literally just pay with your Halifax card, instead of another card you use.

This is not for all customers.

Isn't it?

Don't everyone using the Cashback Extras website have the same offers for the month?

They offered you this immediately after you opened an account?

Thank you Halifax for rewarding my loyalty

sphinxy is correct, the cashback offers you see are tailored depending on your recent shopping habits and not everybody who banks with Halifax will see this.

When cashback with Halifax was first announced, both me and my partner were both offered 15% cashback at Morrisons. Fantastic offer if you do get it! Unfortunately you only seem to get it once (if at all). Haven't had any decent offers since :-(

I dont think its the same for everyone, my cashback extras are currently Texaco and Dominos. No mention of Morrisons.

My Morrisons is 5%

Natwest do a similar scheme for current customers, but the cash back is 1%

Different for everyone i have been waiting for Morrisons to come up on mine so just checked mine and hubby's but still not there and we have different offers on each account x

I've got 7 offers, my morrisons one is 15% cashback, been with the bank for a while.

Why do you have to sign up to individual deals? I don't get why one click to activate the feature isn't enough

Been with them for 20 years and at present dont have a single cashback offer

Thank you for this!!! I have had this account for years, if you have signed up to on line banking, log in, scroll right down to the bottom of the page, its on the right hand side, I nearly missed it. I believe you can call up and get set up for online banking if you haven't got it. The Morrisons offer wasn't on there for me, but Ocado for Waitrose was, so guessing they are targeting customers with offers by customers spending habits, i..e. I shop in Morrisons already, so they are encouraging me to go to Ocado, this is why they can give cash back, the Bank is introducing new customers in return for the deal. If that makes sense ?

Because then the people who particularly care about cashback make the effort to click and activate it, while those who aren't massively bothered don't click so Halifax don't have to pay them anything.

They match them to your purchases, so if u spend your card in morrisons they'll do u a deal, if not they won't. I don't put much spending on my debit card so get no offers

I have been with Halifax for a while with other services, but current account is new.

Staff in the branch seem to know little about the cash back scheme too. You have to call another number to discuss cash back queers, so I assume its operated by a third party on the banks behalf.

Thanks for this didn't know it existed

For customers complaining they have been with the bank for years and getting very few rewards... REMEMBER in this day and age, loyalty does not pay and you are the people Halifax cream there profits off of!

Martin Lewis says exactly the same!

If I find a better deal elsewhere that is worth my time and effort, I wont hesitate moving from Halifax to another bank.

I do the same with insurance every year on all my policies.

I have NEVER used my debit or credit card in Morrisons, as I always buy discounted Morrisons gift vouchers through work. I believe that is why I was offered 20% cashback off ONE spend at Morrisons. I made good use of it, buying £100 Morrisons gift vouchers and my reward is £20 cashback.

It appears to me that Morrisons are trying to gain NEW customers.

I should add that the Morrisons offer has now vanished, presumably because I have achieved the maximum possible reward. Please check the T&Cs carefully as I believe that on the Morrisons offer you may only be rewarded for the single highest purchase you make. Although, it's quite possible that those offered a lower percentage than my 20% might not have this limitation on their accounts.

i have 20% and never really shop at morrisons

I have no offers at all on my 3 halifax accounts - never use the debit card tho - perhaps a token purchase at Morrisons would be in order?

I got 10% off New Look. Fabulous as I also got the 10% student discount.

I've got 6 cash back offers available for stores that I rarely purchase from. A morrisons offer would have been much appreciated, pull your finger out Halifax!

only offer i have had since is a miserable 5% off dominos pizza...and Ive never used them!!??? SO COLD FROM ME

excellent thank you x

Thanks for this i didnt realise it was there. Took a while for me to find it - it was on the right hand side of the screen near the bottom. Nothing about Morrisons, there was Argos, Homebase, Texaco and Body Shop. I clicked them all anyway, but dont think theres a texaco locally. Shame about the Morrisons as i shop there all the time

Someone please expire this. I always shop at Morrisons and always use my Halifax card and in the 7-8 weeks since the cashback scheme started they've never offered me a Morrisons deal.

I'm gutted, I literally spend £150-£200 a week at Morrisons.

If it is any consolation, the cashback offers are only time limited. So for me at the end of December will not get the cashback, and it might come up for you in January!

Just because it doesn't work for you doesn't mean it should be expired. I have a Halifax account and didn't know about the cash back scheme, so thanks Op

I have a feeling the offers are for people who don't shop at a particular business much, to get them to spend and through the doors.

So if you regularly shop at a place, there is no incentive to offer it to the existing customer.

I think its good to find out the scheme exists and am hoping thst as the offers change that i will get my turn at Morrisons. I would never have known if it wasnt for this post . I have been with halifax bank for many years so not just for new customers

Agreed, but the offer would be better if it was actually tailored to spending habits rather than stores you rarely use. It would be more beneficial for me and no doubt the same for plenty of other people.

My current offers are: Yo Sushi, New Look, Spafinder and the Body Shop. I've never spent a penny in any of them!

I've just activated mine & not one of the offers is for anywhere i shop or have shopped in the last few years!! So much for being TAILORED to your spending habits!! Well i've clicked them all & will just ask family & friends when they are going to any of these places & get them to use my card....lol
Morrisons or ASDA would have been amazing for me...boooooooooo
Just read that the offers should show up on your statements so who knows what will appear...

the answer is quite simple....switch your account.....why get treated differently than everybody else...one moment they offer you 10% the other 5% at the expense of new customers....!!!! dont buy into a terrible service - switch your accounts - it now only takes 7 days for a bank to switch you and if you cant be bothered with that switch it yourself - a couple of phone calls and hey presto you have moved - punish the banks that think they own you or dare to treat you as less of a customer because you've been loyal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure that all the Halifax cash back deals are for one purchase only, once you've used your card at wherever it was you are offered cashback then the offer disappears. I could be wrong but neither my husband or me have ever had any offers that were for multiple purchases.

Halifax seem to be taking the pee. I've just checked my cash back rewards online and it says I don't have a current account. maybe I should change banks!!

Hot. Need to learn more about this.
