Wow, that's amazing! 10% off food that is already 50% overpriced.

As the original poster of the deal I feel obliged to let you in on a secret that many Waitrose multybuy offers hold. Obviously there is no one particular shop that is cut-rate if you do a weekly shop, the savvy thing to do is to know what from where to buy. The secret requires a waitrose card (that anyone is free to pick from instore and register online) that gives 20% off the price that items scan at the point of sale, meaning that any pre-set mulibuy saving is applied separately. Now, with a 10% off card that 20% increases to 30% off!

For example

Seriously Strong Extra Mature Cheddar 350g £3.70 & 2 for £5 or £5 -30% off 2x3.70 = £2.78 or £3.97 per kg!

Some of the other bargains to be had would be:

Duchy Organic beef mince 400g £4.29 2 for £7, hence 2 for £4.42 (£5.53 per kg)

Waitrose British beef diced braising steak 400g £4.20 3 for £10, hence 3 for £6.22 (£5.18 per kg!)

2 Pork Chops 540g £3.56 3 for £10, hence 3 for £6.79 (£4.19 per kg)

Waitrose British thin cut pork loin steaks 450g £3.75 3 for £10, hence 3 for £6.62 (£4.90 per kg)

Waitrose 6 sausages (various) 400g £3.29 2 for £5, hence 2 for £3.02

Waitrose 2 British Barnsley loin lamb chops 236g £3.65 3 for £10, hence 3 for £6.71 (£9.47 per kg)

Waitrose fresh pasta Portobello mushrooms 250g £2.99 2 for £4, hence 2 for £2.20

Dorset cereal 600g £3.79 2nd half price, hence 2 for £3.41

Lurpak spreadable unsalted/light500mg £3.75 2 for £6, hence 2 for £3.75

Pepsi Max 8x330ml £3.50 2 for £5, hence 2 for £2.90 (18p per can)

Heinz soups (various) £0.95 5 for £3, hence 5 for £1.57 (31p per tin)

Waitrise Pure White toilet rolls 9s £3.35 2 for £6, hence 2 for £3.99 (22p per roll)

Flash bathroom spray 500ml £1.50 2 for £2, hence 2 for £1.10

Vikal Limescale removal 500ml £3.20 2 for £5, hence 2 for £3.08

Pampers Sensitive wipes 50s £1.50 2 for £2, hence 2 for £1.10

Finish All in 1 max power and pure 52s £8 (1/2 price) minus 30% £5.60

Twinning’s English Breakfast 250g 100 bags £2.50 (1/2 price), hence £1.75

Bonne Maman Apricot 370g £1.66 (1/3 off), hence £1.16

Waitrose Basmati rice 2kg £3.21 (1/4 off), hence £2.24

Baylis and Harding (mandarin or antibacterial) hand wash £1.33 (1/3 off), hence £0.93

Waitrose raw jumbo king prawns 180g £4.00 (99p off), hence £2.80

Listerine total care 500ml £4.20 2 for £5 (not on 20% off, just 10%), hence 2 for £4.16

KP peanuts 270g £2.25 2 for £3.50 (just 10% off), hence 2 for £3.05 (better than pound shop)

Tyrells crisps (various) £2.09 2 for £4 (just 10%), hence 2 for £1.67

Hope that helps

And by the way the pack of 4 waitrose baked beans is £1.10 or 99p with 10% off, considering that it has 52% haricot beans compared to asdas 45% maybe it would be worth paying extra 7p

Oh how you’ve only ever read this false info and never stepped foot in the store. I shop at Waitrose and it’s far from expensive. Most things are cheaper or the same price as Tesco, Morrison’s etc.

There is no Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, coop or Iceland near me, even the new Aldi is completely the wrong side of town and would take 35+ mins to get to, so that leaves us with the Tesco which often it takes more than an hour to get into and and over an hour to get out of due to the traffic on the 'Tesco roundabout', Lidl which is on the same roundabout or the Waitrose which is much quicker and easier to get to.

By the time you've factored in petrol and time, Waitrose is a no-brainer and if you shop well there it's not always that much more than Tesco.

My friend and fellow bargain hunter,

As one of the original people to comment on your post, I feel obliged to come back to you with some significant pointers but also let you know a secret about Asda which I explain below;

To go back to some of your examples….I attach links to cheaper deals…

2 Pork Chops 540g £3.56 3 for £10, hence 3 for £6.79 (£4.19 per kg)

Aldi Farm 6 Pork Chops
£3.99 £3.80 per kg

Waitrose 6 sausages (various) 400g £3.29 2 for £5, hence 2 for £3.02

ASDA Farm Stores 8 Pork Sausages, 454g, 89p or 2 for £1.78

Lurpak spreadable salted/unsalted 500mg £3.75 2 for £6, hence 2 for £3.75

Asda, same deal, 2 for £6

Pepsi Max 8x330ml £3.50 2 for £5, hence 2 for £2.90 (18p per can)

THIS IS ACTUALLY 31P PER CAN

YOU CAN GET A BETTER DEAL AT 27P PER CAN WITH TESCO HERE;

Hope that helps my friend. If I were you, I would throw your Waitrose card in the bin and save yourself a fortune!

And by the way the pack of 4 x Waitrose baked beans is £1.10 or 99p with 10% off, considering that it has 12% less tomato sauce compared to Asda’s 32%, maybe it isn’t worth paying an extra 7p for?!

Oh and I’ve not even told you about Asda’s price match guarantee where you can get a further 10% off if they aren’t cheaper than Waitrose. I’m sure you are no mathematician, but will be able to work this one out yourself.

Hope to hear from you soon my friend.

I truly have no ambition to carry on in vain but for the sake other fellow hukdealers that might be reading this I should make a few clarifications regarding your counterexamples

Re Aldi Farm 6 Pork Chops I totally agree they are definitely cheaper, unfortunately I have no Aldi near me
£3.99 £3.80 per kg

Re Waitrose 6 sausages (various) 400g £3.29 2 for £5, hence 2 for £3.02
waitrose.com/eco…077
contents: British pork (80%), CARAMELISED RED ONION CONFIT (12%) (dark brown sugar, red onion, onion, water, red wine, white wine vinegar, cornflour, garlic purée, salt, black pepper, antioxidant sulphur dioxide), FORTIFIED WHEAT FLOUR (wheat flour, calcium carbonate, iron, niacin, thiamin), chives, olive oil, sea salt, emulsifiers tetrasodium diphosphate and disodium diphosphate, preservative sodium metabisulphite, salt, black pepper, garlic purée
ASDA Farm Stores 8 Pork Sausages, 454g, 89p or 2 for £1.78
Pork (51%) , Water , Rusk [Fortified Wheat Flour [Wheat Flour, Calcium Carbonate, Iron, Niacin (B3), Thiamin (B1)], Raising Agent (Ammonium Carbonates)] , Wheat Gluten , Wheat Starch , Dextrose , Salt , Spices [White Pepper, Nutmeg, Ginger, Mace] , Stabiliser (Diphosphates) , Yeast Extract , Preservative (Sodium Sulphite) , Antioxidant (Ascorbic Acid) , Sausage Casing [Beef Protein] .
You really can't compare them, I am sorry. Possibly you could with the essential W sausages £1.20 for 454g but even they have 65% pork, so unsurprisingly the price reflect that waitrose.com/eco…461
Of course that's a personal preference but I would go for the W 2 for £3.02 any day as they are absolutely delicious

Re Lurpak spreadable salted/unsalted 500mg £3.75 2 for £6, hence 2 for £3.75

Asda, same deal, 2 for £6

Sorry, how is it that you think that £3.75 at Waitrose is dearer than £6 at Asda? Does Asda have special powers I don't know about?

Pepsi Max 8x330ml £3.50 2 for £5, hence 2 for £2.90 (18p per can)

THIS IS ACTUALLY 31P PER CAN
No, its not! 2.90 / (2x8) = 2.9 / 16 = 0.18125, even with the £0.00125 that I've neglected to mention its still a better deal than Tescos 27p

YOU CAN GET A BETTER DEAL AT 27P PER CAN WITH TESCO HERE;

The prices I've quoted are not the prices you get if you don't use the benefits of your waitrose card and include the extra 10% that the British Gas card will yield as this deal is about the 10% card

I am aware of Asda 10% price guarantee but they wouldn't compare against the hidden 20% off at W and as far as I am aware you need to upload your receipt and get a voucher for a future shop ( hearsay, as I have no Asda nearby eather), not easy on their customers plus you don't get a free paper (worth as much as £3.00) nor a free coffee/tea

Lastly I would really like to know how is it that you are sure I am no mathematician, do we know each other by any chance, I guess that would explain why you call me by my friend
Edited by: "etta191" 13th Oct

This is my personal scenario.

Asda just 300m away from me, 5miles for both Tesco and Sainsburys and 7miles for Waitrose. I would try to go Waitrose when possible. If you sign up being myWaitrose member, they sent out discount voucher for £8 off £40 spent. Yes you have to buy £40 but you could includes a newspaper like Sundays Time to make it £40, where when checkout £2.5 is taken off when spent above £10. So effectively you're buying £37.5 worth of grocery. Then based on your Pick-Your-Own selection ie, Activia Yogurt, it is £3 each for 2 for £5, taking 20% off make it £2 each. With the £8 off voucher (effectively another 20%), 10% from the voucher pointed out by OP, plus my JohnLewis giftcard which I got it for 5-10% off.

My max saving for a £40 groceries, provided all qualified for 20% pick your own with the newspaper factor in is (((£37.5*0.8%[pick your own])-£8[mywaitrose voucher])*0.9%[OP 10%])*0.9[max saving from giftcard] is £17.82, that's max saving of 55.45%.

My Friend,

Good to hear from you.

I’m getting in touch to let you know that most of the offers you have displayed below are incorrect, as they are;

*not displaying in my Waitrose “Pick your own offers to get 20% off” choices so maybe account specific
*cheaper elsewhere (with a few exceptions).
*not applicable as the 20% offer only applies if you buy one of the product, not 2.

The Waitrose card does not give you 20% off anything you want, just a selected few items that are already 20% over priced. It’s a marketing gimmick to make customers think they are getting a bargain when they actually aren’t.

Here’s further info from Waitrose which clearly explains that unfortunately, it's not possible to include every product but that they hope you find 10 items from the Pick Your Own selection that you would like to save 20% on.

Lets start with a couple of rare examples where Waitrose is cheaper (when you take the British Gas promotion into account);

The Pepsi Max is on my Waitrose ”Pick your own offers” deal, so yes that is a good deal and works out at 20p per can in my book…

The Lurpak spreadable salted/unsalted 500mg is £3.75 or £3 if you add to ‘Pick your own offers”, but the current offer is 2 for £6 anyway. I’ve tried to check out with 2 for £6 and it doesn’t take off a further 20% (even though this product is one of my pick your own offers), so not sure how you’ve worked 2 for £3.75! Does Waitrose have special powers I don't know about?

You would actually get 2 Lurpaks for £6 from Waitrose- 10% British Gas discount = £5.40 (or £2.70 each). So yes credit where credits due, you would make a 60p saving compared to buying two at Tesco for £6.

So lets go on to the rest...

It’s the same with the Flash spray you refer to below….

“Flash bathroom spray 500ml £1.50 2 for £2, hence 2 for £1.10”

It’s actually 2 for £1.60 (when you take the British Gas discount in) not £1.10 as the 20% off only applies if you buy one. If in doubt, have a look yourself and try and check out and see what the price does on each item.

Also, when you say the following…

“Listerine total care 500ml £4.20 2 for £5 (not on 20% off, just 10%), hence 2 for £4.16”

It is actually 2 for £5, then you take 10% off (British Gas Deal), 10% off £5 is £4.50 (not sure how you got £4.16?)

But in any case you can buy 2 for £4 in Wilkinsons.

As for your toilet rolls at 22p per roll, you can them at 16p per roll at Asda…

Anyway, hope this clarifies things for you my friend. I think my hunch that you were no mathematician was correct! Guess what, neither am I!

Plus if you read the British Gas terms and conditions it says “Not to be used in conjunction with any other offer”, so not sure whether you can actually use it with the Waitrose “Pick your own offer”.

Anyway, I’m happy to go on but I need to sleep. I need to go food shopping in the morning to buy all my bargains! Have a nice weekend.

ps. Fair point about the sausages

Oh you silly billy, you are so convinced in your righteousness that you've managed to get Waitrose online on your side Online the 20% is taken off the offer price so if the offer is 2 for £5 you should get them for £4 Sorry, that's how it used to be, now online works just as instore I don't know why lurpak isn't working for you, possibly you've added a different variety to your PYO than what you've added to your basket, who knows?! Every offer I've listed is in the PYO 20% list and that list isn't account specific, if you can't find them I can only suggest that their PYO app has a much better search engine. Now instore is a little different I've already mentioned how but as you have obvious difficulties due to your preconceptions, see if this receipt will help

700g for £3.52

This site is full of PYO multibuy offers that seemed to have bypassed you, here's an example re the flash deal that is now back on, I wouldn't be surprised if you were one of those that had voted it cold

hotukdeals.com/dea…252

Here's an old lurpak deal you could maybe read the comments hotukdeals.com/dea…442

If you need more examples just browse the site yourself.

Regarding the 10% card, I hope it would work the same way instore as the 20% PYO. I more than hope, as I had a 10% card earlier in the year sent from W together with some coupons and that's the way it worked

Please don't reply or if you must, please include an apology and don't expect a response from me. This deal is definitely not for you, after all why would you want to buy seriously strong for £4 per kg (mind boggles)
