10 Ikea Alkalisk alkaline batteries for £1.25 in store, AA and AAA

I see lots of deals on here for batteries in various promotional offers, but surely nothing beats the standard price of Ikea alkaline AA or AAA batteries: ten for £1.25! According to batteryshowdown.com these batteries perform well, and after all they are alkaline so should do.

For those who can't get to an Ikea store, the next cheapest I have seen are Kodak AA alkalines which Poundland sell in packs of six for £1.

Of course, cheapest of all is to buy rechargeable batteries. I looked into these and Uniross Hybrio look to be the best value for money. They come pre-charged, hold their charge for a long time, and at 2200mah are high capacity. On Ebay you can get four of these for £4.49 or four with a charger for £4.99.

Nice post, OP! Informative with balanced views and mention of alternative products.
I wish more posts were like this - have some heat
Buying anything in ikea is a nightmare.
Ive had alot of problems with ikea aaa batteries, unless something has changed they are too light to be a proper battery.

You can now hire Sherpas to guide you around the store at a nominal cost ;-)

Batteries seem good enough, I always use them as a standby for rechargeable ones, or for remotes. Ikea now appear to have increased the price from £1.00 for 10 though.
These are great value for money batteries but at the lower end of the alkaline battery scale in my experience. That of course is offset by the cost. Last time I bought any, they were £1 for 10 and all yellow.
I got a vivatar alkaline charger. tried charging
my ikea aas and it worked ok
note you need an alkaline charger dont try
    A normal nimh charger

Actually disapointed by this, used to be £1 when I last bought them, still cheapest around at £1.25 though.

My advice with rechargeables is to go for the low-self discharge ones (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nickel%E2%80%93metal_hydride_battery#Low_self-discharge_cells) such as Uniross Hybrio, and avoid very fast chargers which can damage batteries.

could you possibly give a link to the 4 x uniross hybrio AA's + charger for £4.99 that you mentioned are good?

think i might have a look following your recommendation, but can't find it on the ebay website!

P.S. would you say they would be good for using in a digital camera? just a basic 8MP point-and-shoot camera, nothing fancy.
