Best cooking advice ever
This brand is ok but the worse one was shahi.... it kept becoming mushy (I hope mine wasn’t the plastic rice that was going around)
Last time they had AAA fragrant rice on offer for £4 . Went to 3 stores but not stocked. Ordered and paid online to click and collect. The day I was due to pick up I received email saying the ordered couldn't be filled and therefore was cancelled. I think this is just a marketing ploy and should be reported to trading standards
Heat added
I uselly purchase laila rice but this recent bag smelt funny and the length of rice was not long either(fierce)

Probably been posted on this site before!

Are you sure its basmati, not long grain?
I rarely see Chinese store selling bargain on this country, most likely overpriced stuff

They wouldn’t be Basmati rice
Guess this is the start of the rice discounts this year, expect Morrissons to match

I don't believe that for one moment.
Do you have a habit of making unsubstantiated claims?
Price per kilo? £/kg?
Nice thanks. @apur32

This one cooks effortlessly. Really.
Another foolproof way of cooking rice--
1 cup rice, 2 cups boiling water.
Add salt, a little oil and sprinkle turmeric (gives the rice a nice yellow colour).
Boil at maximum heat until little holes start to develop when the water is just below level with the rice.
Reduce heat to its lowest and simmer for 8-10mins.
Cooks perfectly Everytime.

Best of both 50/50 maybe lol
Has anyone seen the recent video of Little worms in the rice bags at asda. This was at my local asda Colindale London and I went to see for myself if the video was real and ALL the rice bags brand in the video where removed..... it was Shahi brand though not Laila

This is a budget brand of rice. The quality is hit and miss. It's usually 5kgs for 5 or 6£ at my Indian grocery shop in Reading. One tip is to buy it from a Indian grocery store where these rotate quickly so you get fresh stock. Also better to try Tilda or Trophy Basmati rice which are longer grain and better quality but a but pricier.
