Total = £421p/p

Accommodation- You will be staying at the 4* Ratana Apart-Hotel, which is within a 10 km radius of Rawai, Naihan and Karon Beaches. Overlooking the Andaman Sea, it offers free Wi-Fi, an outdoor pool and gym. Phuket is not what it used to be. I went again last year with my family …Phuket is not what it used to be. I went again last year with my family hoping to show the children the wonderful beaches and corals that once was. Now it is over run with Russian and Chinese tourism. The corals are nearly all dead, and rubbish strewn across beaches. Prices of shows and excursions have shot through the roof. ( weak pound partly to blame)We still managed to enjoy ourself because the Meridians hotel was still wonderful.

Are Russians are Chinese not allowed to be tourists? Didn't know tourism was only reserved for British people.

Phuket has always been a major tourist destination for people from various countries. It hasn't changed that much in the last 15 years.
Phuket is Thailands largest island with many wonderful unspoiled beaches.Yes, there are lots of Russians and Chinese. But there are also lots of crazy western tourists who wander around drunk and causing trouble.

Good deal OP.

I think you need to edit the title to add 2 people mate as I first looked and thought it a little expensive for one
May have a look at flights only and go for a mooch about.

Try the "Lords Palace" in patong it's only around 300 baht per night and looks ok
Also China Southern is a dreadful airline

Phuket has the most tourists of any place in the world as it is beautiful. So yeah you are getting people from everywhere but that is a price you have to pay.

The "H" isn't pronounced
I came back from Phuket in July it was amazing!
Just booked to go thailand end of November, but going Bangkok for a couple nights first. Only booked flights so far with Thai airways.

Any suggestions for nice hotels in Bangkok and Phuket?
Don’t mind paying about £100 per night
Also what are the must sees and dos.
Thanks again

Crikey - where to start? I'd get a Rough Guide or Lonely Planet (as new as you can find) for starters. When in BK, go on the boats that act as busses on the small canals. On the big river (can't remember the name), take the normal service boat and experience the mayhem of the river. Try to avoid the tourist boats, they charge you more, but it's far more exhilerating and authentic going on the bog standard service.
Go To Wat Arun
Eat on the street
Go to the reclining Buddha
Go to the Grand Palace
Eat on the street
Don't go to Koh San Road unless you just fancywalking through a caricature
Eat on the street
If you want more quiet islands that are still reasonable, head East towards Trat (near Cambodian Border). You can fly from BK, or take a private taxi, or bus it. FRom there, go and explore the three island Koh Chang (Largest, more of a party scene for young travellers), Koh Kut(Kood) and Koh Mak. The last two are quieter and you can still find deserted-ish areas if that's your thing. A good website for that is explorekohchang dot com.
Eat...eat and eat.... And expect to come back addicted to spicy salads! If you're not, you're not embracing it!

Oh, and if you fancy more exploring away from BK or beaches, you can take a train out of BK north up to Chang Mai, Chang Pi, MAe Selong (iirc) where you can go to the more ethical and well run elephant reserves, or trek through tea fields, rtc...

But yeah, be careful where you go now due to crowds. Take note of various online forums such as the Lonely Planet and Trip Advisor. Thailand is a huge tourist destination now and places willhave changed a lot in the past few years but there are still areas to escape to.

Did I mention eating?
Isn't it typhoon season there? I went to thailand in September and couldn't get a boat to the islands as it was too dangerous. Maybe i was just unlucky but northern Thailand is great too
Plenty of bang for a buck I Thought this was last place for a family holiday?

Wow thanks for that, appreciate all the info
A holiday is not complete unless you do something you can't tell anyone back home about afterwards.......
Excellent deal, if only it was during the holidays...... that's one of the downsides of being a teacher
Phuket I'm in
If your doing the island tour do it private, it really doesn’t cost much more then “the big boat” (about 40 people) and it’s incredible being able to take it in with only the people you are with.

I saw the word 'Agoda' in the opening title and having experienced their non existant customer service earlier this year, decided to pass. Check TA and Trust Pilot for the reviews before using them.

Of course they're allowed. However I've seen how little respect russian tourists seem to have for their surroundings when abroad.

They think nothing of trampling corals

I've no experience of Chinese tourists, first hand.

Last time I was in Thailand, I had a very pleasant time speaking via Google Translate with a Russian couple who had been visiting Koh Mak for the last 10-15 years. They observed how the rubbish had built up since they had been coming. No, it wasn't them

I also saw first hand how tourists were clambering all over corals in Australia when we went there a few years back.

And I've seen the states of the Vietnamese corals on islands close to the Thaiu border. That was mostly caused by local development.

Moral of the story, it's humans being ignorant, not Russians, or any other race.

Why is that? I've flown with them a few times and had no problems. I actually prefer them to a lot of other airlines
