No, you must have a child with you or it's not valid.
Don't forget you can also buy with £15 of Tesco clubcard vouchers

No unfortunately it needs to be a minimum of one adult and one child to get the discount hope this helps but you can buy an adult railcard for use up two adults xxx
Damn, just ordered for £30 last wk!! Great deal.
One adult may be better off with a Network RailCard. There are lots of railcards available and most will get 10% off using SEARCH10.

Thanks OP, heat added.

Oh, dear! Will have to take a dummy!:D
I've travelled with small child in pushchair and as long as you buy a ticket for them, you can use the card. For me it works out cheaper than just paying for my ticket and having the child travel free but sure it will vary on journeys over about £5
Thanks
Do you have to travel with a child every time ?

You'll still be paying for the dummy

Not a brilliant deal though. This was my alternative but worked out that I could exchange £15 Tesco vouchers into £60 worth of restaurant vouchers so buying it via Tesco clubcard wasn't very practical.

you can actually cheat and take a child under 5, just pay for their ticket, will still work out cheaper!

thanks OP mine is up for renewal end of the month
I think typically it should be this price all the year round. Train fares have just become so vastly expensive over the last couple of years that I have hardly used my railcard I bought this time last year at all.
This is good even if you have a child who is nearly 16.
from their website:
Special notes regarding children’s tickets
Children aged under 16 at the time that the Railcard is purchased may still travel at the discounted child’s fare throughout the validity period of the 1-year Railcard, even if they become 16 years old during that time or, for a 3-year Railcard until the child turns 17.
If the only child in the Family & Friends Railcard group is aged under five years, the Railcard holder must purchase a discounted ticket for that child in order for the Railcard holder(s) to qualify for the discount on their tickets.
Terms and Conditions are valid up to and including 15 May 2016.
Hi. This may be a stupid question but do you need to have passport photos taken for each member of the family? I looked at the website but it does not say. Thx...
Our F&F railcard runs out on 21st Feb, so great timing. Cheers op. We live in the Surrey 'burbs and the saving on one family trip into London pays for the railcard.
thanks
thanks! was waiting for this. I get their emails but didn't get any info about this offer.
Also 5% topcashback
Is this not discriminatory towards single men? Cold.
Fantastic, was hoping something would pop up by the 20th....travelling with my toddler works out much cheaper and you get a seat for them! Thanks OP.

Being male does not disbar you from taking a train journey with a child.

No need for any photographs, you just state the name of two adults who can use the Railcard with accompanying children.

Got to agree with this, for what is around £5 more in virtual cash terms over the clubcard vouchers, you might as well save the clubcard points for something worth 4x the value.
