Don’t kill your local takeaway/restaurant by using Justeat(15-20% commission per order). Go on their own website/app /foodhub directly and you may find 10-20% off all the time.
Not to forget , most businesses add extra delivery charges and some have a marked up menu on justeat .
Hope this helps

My local pizza place doesn't have a website and doesn't take card and I don't carry cash with me. So other than popping out in the rain to the cash point, Just-Eat is my only option. If anyone is killing my local, it's themselves.

How is using just eat killing local takeaways?! If anything, it has boosted their business...

Plus, if they are offering discounts for going direct then there really is no difference to their profits at all, or very marginal.

People go direct to save money - simple as that.

Others like myself are happy to pay a little more for the convenience of just eat. Its popular for a reason...

I started doing this after JE added their 50p service charge. There's the odd takeaway that only deliver through JE though, so thanks for the code

Well People cba ordering over the phone anymore . No need to read your address a million times to the poor foreign lad taking your order and still getting the wrong address. Justeat brainwash customers with catchy adverts and this is the outcome .
Small businesses can't solely rely on phone and walk-in orders .

Thanks for posting, this really swung my dining method for this evening, *and* my choice of order. A couple of quid saved means an extra side-dish! Happy Friday.

No use if reliant on card payment, particularly when you use just eat 3 times a week - I don't want to phone up and hand out my card details to every single restaurant I eat at.
Chinese is on it's way! Thanks

Definitely true. I've seen a few that charge more on just eat.

Most Businesses do have their own portal/app which usually comes with loyalty features , reduced delivery charges etc . Worth inquiry about tbh

Exactly. Fully agreed. I don't carry cash either. This is why I avoid any take away who isn't on just eat. Suppose you could withdraw cash while you're out, but take aways are spontaneous decisions normally, at least for me.

Really? Due to allowing customers the option to order via Just Eat they're actually increasing revenue. In fact, thanks to Just Eat I'm actually ordering more takeaways and willing to try out new places.

As others stated, most places actually markup their prices quite handsomely for Just Eat orders. So in a way it's a win, win for the takeaway. Those who complain are just plain greedy and using this excuse to justify the extra markup.

I am not going to deny the fact that Justeat helped many business grow and get more customers.
It's the fact that regular customers going back to the same food place again and again yet choosing justeat over the other options available. By using alternative option customers can get better price , same service and it helps the business avoiding justeat expenses
Yes you can find variety of options on justeat but the same could be said for Foodhub app which usually has 10%-20% off always for most takeaways yet not charging extortionate commission rate of 13-20%
38562417-hFDpr.jpg
for example this is how things are on foodhub.
End of the day, it's your choice and your money mate. I thought HUKD was for saving money and i was trying to help the fellow Hukd users get a better value for 💷 than justeat

You're right. I'm in the same position as you. If they pay for a credit card machine the percentage is still about 4% commission... it's silly they prefer to lose +15% through Just Eat... although it gives them MORE business than if they weren't on there. It's giving them more revenue. It's up to them to run their business in a more sustainable way, not the customer...
This voucher code isn't working for me (and I got the email) at least through the app. Kinda glad now I see the delivery charge is now £2.99 anyway.

True, my regular Indian upped all its prices on Just Eat, and added £2 delivery. Doesn't apply by phone.

But if i cant be bothered ringing, or have a just eat code, i use a different takaway with free delivery.

Most offer free delivery also. Think they charge 50p service charge though?
By the time you pay for using your card and then delivery charge 10% is nothing
My usual takeaway is on food hub as well as just eat with absolutely no difference in price or delivery etc etc. It’s better for me to order via just eat, that way I save 10% using the student discount.

Also, not all my favourite take aways are on food hub. The one time I decided I’ll save the take away a few pounds in commission and order from food hub - I found that that take away was not doing their special promotion on food hub but were on just eat. So I’ve just stuck to just eat.

Ask your local takeaway if they'd prefer you order direct vs just eat, I can almost guarantee they will prefer you order direct even if they've marked up prices on just eat. They are forced to put themselves on there because that's where customers have moved to.

They did exactly what paypal did, be mr nice guy to the sellers until everyone is selling there and the customers have moved there, then screw the sellers once all the customers are there, knowing the seller will have to stick around. Taking an order via just eat is better than taking no order at all, just like selling via paypal is better than making no sale at all, but that doesn't mean they don't get screwed in the process, they just have no choice at this point.
Used this code tonight for a few pizzas..... Stick a fork in me!
These 'offers' are getting worse and worse by the day. Used to be 25% then 20%, more recently 15% and now a measly 10% which barely covers the service charge let alone the delivery charges that seem to sneaked in recently. There's also no recourse if anything goes wrong just eat customer service is terrible

Of course they would prefer me to go direct. They'd also prefer me to collect it as well so they dont have to pay the delivery driver...

They are not getting 'screwed'. Just eat charges a fair price to use their service. They wouldn't reach half as much customers if they wasnt on just eat...

As an example, my go to chinese on just eat is not actually that local... thats because my real local is shockingly bad!

You don’t own a business that serves food. That is literally why you won’t understand the issues you face by using just eat.
