10% off laptops (possible all electricals) at john lewis

Hi all, ive just been to my local john lewis in cheadle to buy a new laptop while at the till the man serving me checked to see if i got a discount. Unfortunetly i didnt as it was acer but he informed me that they were having a 3 day sale on most electrical brands (including sony, apple and HP) to compete with a similar sale which debenhams are running atm. I didnt ask for more information but i assume with him saying electicals that the dicount is on all electricals, also i didnt ask if it was in all store, but i thought ide post just to point my fellow bargin hunters in the right direction. So it maybe worth giving your local john lewis a call and seeing if they are also doing this offer, (http://www.johnlewis.com/Shops/DShome.aspx).

Thanks for the heads up, but surely John Lewis is the absloute LAST place on earth to find anything at a reasonable price, let alone a laptop lol! :w00t:

John Lewis do price match.

Yes, when it suits them! Not internet for example.

They have been censured bby the Advertising Standards Authority over it:

In fact I think JLP is the most over-rated dealer I have ever had the privilege to be messed about by! Not the worst overall, but they have a reputation that bears no relation to reality, and it is one of those mysteries I find hard to understand ;-(

And snotty to boot!

Really people need to shop around and compare prices at all stores before making a purchase. John Lewis can occasionally be hard to beat when you consider the 5 year warranty included in their TV's and 2 year warranty on washing machines, etc. Anybody daft enough not to shop around is a fool with their money. So John Lewis is just as good or as bad as the rest. however, in my experience, does tend to be a little better than many others.

I think John Lewis are as good as anyone else, if not better. They have excellent customer service in the Glasgow branch. What I would say is they do a lot of price matching when other stores have these blue cross etc. They were also the first department store to offer free delivery of all items online before all the other department stores ...as with anything you shop around...its par the course these days...happy hunting

How can 10% off anything be cold?

Even if it was 10% off Waitrose carrots I'd vote hot cause it's money off!! Not because another place is cheaper!

I have had "one of those years" when it comes to replacing household appliances - Fridge Freezer, Tumble drier, PVR and a lot of smaller stuff - the first one to be replaced, the fridge freezer I bought at JLP, and it was the last! Messed about with delivery times, waited weeks, when I could have had it in 4 days, and worst of all, I was messed about by the delivery men too, with a big item which I was left hauling into my ground floor kitchen, when I am disabled, yet had paid for the privilege! Fortunately it was easy access, so I did manage, but because it was such easy access, proof enough of how awkward they were.

So for me, the "wonderful customer service" myth is dead and decomposed.

As for guarantees... the second item, although I was never going to buy it there, (unless it was almost free!) was an AEG tumble drier - from JLP - it had 3 years JLP warranty as standard - -from the retailer I bought it from, it came with FIVE years manufacturers warranty as standard, at a cost of £60 less!

I don't even bother to look now!
