As it says, thought this was an excellent deal as these are usually at least £5 for 4 cans. Noticed a sign that I think said limit of 4 cases per customer and there were only maybe 5 cases left at the one near me (Yate). More expensive than the lidl £1 ales maybe but have not seen speckled hen cheaper than this!

Nice - Like a bit of the old tarnished hen once in a while. Good price! Hot

Good stuff this but when Morlands used to brew it was 6.5% alcohol seems that Greene King have toned it down somewhat.
Hot still as it is a good brew.

Bought some of this at the weekend - 80p/can and doesn't taste bad for a canned beer. Can't remember Speckled Hen ever being stronger than 5.2% though - iirc it was originally brewed with an OG of 1050 to represent 50 years of MG. Hen's Tooth is 6.5% though. The draught version is now a mere 4.5% though thanks to GK:x

Quite interesting this, although I prefer bottled ales to cans, this is a good price. OSH is not what it used to be but still an improvement on the kids beer that is usually on promotion.

Interesting OP comment about lidl £1 ales, as I have noticed both ASDA and Sainsburys have £1 bottled ales, usually three lines which get changed around various brands weekly.

Hot - Hot - Hot. Tesco has been selling this for £12 all summer and it's £10 now but £8? Wow, what a bargain.

Nice stuff, but last time I drank some, the morning after, I speckled the old bowl (a situation reminiscent of racing pigeons being released from their cages) ...so, no - not for me.

A classic beer that does not live well in a can.

Okay, so are you saying it should have never been put there in the first place and will taste minging?

Or at this price we should buy our 4 cases each and let it loose to lead a happier life?!

I have started drinking bitter from cans as cheaper and not as many bottles to get rid of.

Personally cannot taste any difference.

Do people really think its makes a difference??

personally I find canned ale to be just as nice as bottled (as long as you pour it in a glass first of course) but there again i'm no coinoisseur, just thought this was a decent offer as it was alongside the usual 15 tins of carling, 15 tins of strongbow 18 bottles of becks etc etc

Not critising the post m8...Very good in fact..
I just don't like "Personally" Great Classic beers in cans..
I think the taste is impared..
IMHO

After 4 cans of these babies it is impossible to taste the difference between can and bottle when both poured into a nice glass:thumbsup:

Very good price for a decent ale
