Just get the fire service to install for free

Not if you're earning money and able bodied, why should the tax payers pay? And i'm sure the fire service could have better things to do.

I'd absolutely agree if you were old, unemployed, or disabled etc. If you …I'd absolutely agree if you were old, unemployed, or disabled etc. If you can afford to purchase why don't you just do that though rather than burden the brigades budget? And add to that, why play Russian roulette with your own and loved ones lives? My local fire station is no longer manned due to cut backs. Just a thought there for the FREE loaders who don't think anyone has to foot the bill.

Agree in what you are saying but we would rather come and fit them for you than have none at all. You have paid your taxes why shouldn't you get a little back? Might just save a life

I agree with nearly ALL you say -the only problem is Unemployed- there are the genuine Unemployed however there are the UNEMPLOYED - the ones that go on 3 holidays a year and can afford full sky/bt sports, movies -

Fire angel are garbage, never last 10 years, 18 months was last lot, and warranty back up is painful, customer service is clinically removed even when you point out their own literature saying they have a bad batch of batteries out there.
Don’t waste your money... you have been warned... had 3 fail over a 5 year period, 2 were replaced and lasted another couple of years... shoddy customer service, shocking product.
One of my mums went after a couple of years which was part of the bad batch. It was replaced no issue once I provided the serial number etc. The other that was fitted at the same time is still going strong.

My first batch were, then they asked for me to return first, I said that would leave me with no alarms as all were faulty and they said “meh”... binned.... bought a different brand. No issues so far.
If you live in the Mid and West Wales area ring 0370 60 60 699 and receive a free home fire safety check from you local fire station
I had two faulty ones from the bad batch few years back. FireAngel replaced them no questions asked after I supplied the serial numbers. I found it good customer service. Hopefully this batch lasts longer than the previous 2 years.

Good point, but actually my local fire station drive their fire engine to the park and sit in the sun all day. I don't get the impression they have better things to do.

Carbon Monoxide detectors should be free also.

Should be given out free by the gas supplier. Fortunately they've gone down in price, so now they are easily affordable.

The British Gas guy who installed my Nest kindly repositioned my carbon monoxide alarm next to the flu in the bedroom. I had it next to the boiler, he said the flu is where the gas is likely to leak from. He also said it should be placed at a high point in the flat as the gas rises (obviously I guess.)

He also said that most leaks are not from the flats he checks, but from the flat downstairs. So even if you use electric or have your flu and boiler checked regularly, buy a carbon monoxide alarm to detect rising gas from the flat below. He also said it was a good idea to take one on holiday, especially if staying in a private villa or Airbnb.
