Yes very delicious, cooked a piece this way at the weekend! Heat added

I suppose this is as cheap as we could expect for this time of year.
Shoulder is a good flavour, partly because of the fat,but of course unless you spend a long time carefully boning it out and removing the excess "internal" fat, it's not the leanest of lamb joints, which gets a lot of moans from the fat-free brigade, and the bone is difficult to carve around - most butchers will whip out the bone, but not do the fat removing as its a slow job, however if you DO take that effort it produces a superb low cost joint that no-one moans about! :-)

Be quick, Morrison's offers usually end more quickly than any other supermarket, about a week usually, and have a habit of running out before that too!

Bah, why don't we have a morrisons
As for fat content, not really fussed TBH. I need to put on a few lbs!

In which case it's lean meat you want, not fat.

Morrisons beef that was on offer last week was like shoe leather, bought a joint for Sunday , it spoilt the meal. Took ages to cut through and chew.Ended up throwing what was left in the bin instead of using it for sandwiches. Morrisons fresh meat leaves a lot to be desired and the dates are usually just the next day. Unless my local one gets the rubbish !oO

I bought 5 joints on sunday, cooked one and rest went in the freezer

It was very moist and cut like a hot knife through butter, never had a problem with Morrisons meat

Never had a problem with Morrisons meat - some bits look awful, but if you spend a few seconds checking them you can get a decent piece.

Great deal, slow cook in oven with red wine garlic onions and rosemary and its like you've died and gone to heaven. Thanks for heads up on this deal.

Watch out the Chinese are getting the taste for our lovely lamb - the price is going to sky rocket !!!

I heard that how you carve it makes a difference. You need to cut 'against the grain', not with the grain (if you know what I mean). Also roast it on 160 degrees with a little water at the bottom of the roasting tin (stand the meat on a stand whilst roasting) and cover it with a lid. Remove lid half hour before it finishes roasting.

^^ yes thats how we cook it , nice and slow

It was Topside, topside is tough unless you pot-roast it, wherever you buy it!
