They offered me this last month but as you mentioned, you've gotta have £750 coming in every month and also two direct debits. But, are you saying this is no longer the case?

Offered in Portsmouth today. Confirmed - No need for the usual direct debits & transfers in.

Yes. That's right. The £750 and 2 dd switch rule has been removed from last Monday....All you need is a bank account (with valid debit card) and go through the 7 day switching/closure process....incredible!

Think I'll have a look in to this. Cheers.

This looks interesting OP - is this in branch only? heat added

is this just for certain current accounts like the reward one? looking at a basic and it still says about the £750 etc

Sounds good

I had a Halifax account and added my partner on. I got it when I opened it originally and he got it for letting them switch him

I was looking at this but as I'm with BOS I wasn't eligible... Good deal for those who are though

Dead simple in branch. If switching into existing account like us, it took just 10 mins....apparently 30 mins if you need to open a new account.

No pushy sales pressure either. Really nice service. Chap was lovely.

Prefer face to face and supporting the high street.

The £750 and 2 dds are still needed if you want to get the ongoing £5 a month reward..but you can choose any account for the£100 switching offer.

Quick question for anyone that knows. I have a two current accounts with Santander (123 & Graduate).

If I choose to use this service to close my Graduate Account will my 123 account close too? As I wouldn't want that to happen. Might seem like an obvious question but I read through some of the switch details it seemed a little ambiguous.

Is this subject to a credit check ? As mine is rubbish!!!!

Original Poster

GrantD- you will be fine to switch graduate account. 123 acc not linked to that. We switched from Santander and it didn't affect our123

Josephzaa...yes it is credit checked. Unless you already have an existing halifax bank account open?

Darn. With BOS already.

with nat west and they come under bank of Scotland right?

well I got accepted for a new account with them and did the switch with one of my lloyds so fingers crossed in eligible for the £100 even though I don't use the lloyds. thanks op!

Thanks! Just thought they may be tied as they appear together via online banking. Will switch my graduate account

Can someone just explain exactly how to do this?

Apply online for bank account successfully. Then on another day use the account switching service via telephone?

Me and partner swapped, had £200 total plus we get £10 reward each month! I was quite loyal to HSBC but would recommend anyone to change banks! Such an easy simple process everything was transferred over! Well done Halifax!!

Best going into branch. They will take id and sort the switch in one visit. Really quick. If apply online this may slow down the process as you may have to go into branch anyway to provide id.

OK. Just wondered if they might be concerned if the account I switch has little money to begin with. Plus i'm a student (albeit I have a job). Do you think they would prefer you to apply for an overdraft if you have good credit rating? I say that, because, otherwise they might see me moving little money into the account, and not think it is profitable enough to bother accepting me, considering i'm a student. Do have a good credit rating Maybe put some money in the switching account the day before

No. They are not bothered about how you use the account. As long as you have a bank acc to switch and get accepted for halifax bank account (or already have one) it does not matter about how you intent to use it.

Ha ha. Apparently it's gonna be excellent like a blackberry z10??

I only have a current account with Halifax. Could I just open an account with say Natwest and then transfer it to Halifax for the £100? Surely there must be some condition that stops people from doing that,

gallopingbanker

I'd say excellent like an LG G3, maybe a One Plus One, that kind of excellent
