A complete set with tap, four-part stand and downpipe filler kit.

Made from recycled material
Compact for smaller gardens
Fits round or square downpipes
Easy access tap
Saving water is as easy as 1, 2, 3. And it could save you money too!

1. Install a water butt. The average rooftop collects 85,000 litres of water every year which you can use to water plants and lawns, fill ponds and bird baths, wash cars and patios.

2. Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth. A running tap wastes more than 6 litres of water a minute!

3. Fix a dripping tap. This can save as much as 75 litres of water a day!

The Waterbutt in the photo is setup wrong. It'll just keep collecting water from the down pipe until it overflows. Pipe between the butt and pipe should be level. Please pass this on to the folks who replaced my guttering for their future reference.

And whilst you're saving a few litres of water all year through. millions of litres of water are being wasted from leaking water pipes.

I bought the 210 litre one they were doing a few weeks back for my Karcher pressure washer. just about got it in the car.

Cheers OP.

Just picked one up, strange this wasn't in their magazine.

£14.99 in Home Bargains

I like big butts and I cannot lie

Home bargains one doesn't come with stand or down pipe filler kit not sure if worth the extra £4 but not a fair comparison

Looked at this one thanks but does not appear to have stand or connectors.

I have one already but need a proper stand, it would be cheaper to buy this than buy a stand by itself.

Wicks have one with a solid 1 piece stand. Just bought another this year!

totally agree. with you

Gotta love a curvy black butt (_;)

If the water companies fixed THEIR leaks they would save 100,s of thousands of gallons of water a day.

Surely you wont get much water in it if its level?

once you see the way it collects water it makes sense it needs to be pretty accurate. the fill hole needs to be below the top of the internal collection bit. Once its full you want the water to go onto the drain pupe

or move to independent Scotland where lack of water is never a problem!

Just bought one, excellent deal, heat added ...

Will this fit square down pipes..?

hot...just paid £29.99 from my local water authority

can any Karcher washer work from it ???

Why would anybody in the north of UK want a water butt, when it never stops raining? Saying that, my neighbour waters his vegetables even when it's been raining - which strikes me as illogical!

I think they all do. the water supply doesn't have to be under pressure like an outside garden tap you would usually use to connect to the Karcher.

I just connected a piece of hose to the tap on the water butt. and put a hose connection on the other end to attach to the Karcher.
I use it in my garage away from the house.

I would have to fill this 89 times to break even, not sure its worth it as it is either too wet or too dry to be much use.

excuse my ignorance but how does one fix a dripping tap?

Good for the plants, a lot of plants really don't like tap water. As for the whole water meter rubbish, I agree with the chap about the water companies own leakages. A residential leak is a drop in the ocean in comparison but as is the way with privatisation, it never really offers value for money and is just a short term way of ensuring government funding is reduced. Hail Thatcher.

Good for people with water meters. I see people are complaining about water leaks. I'm not sure about the case in the rest of the UK but here in Scotland, where water and sewerage hasnt been privatised, Scottish Water is planning to spend £500 million per annum on capital projects. I'd have thought it would be even more in the interest of private companies to spend money on fixing leaks. Also of note is the fact the bills here in Scotland are lower than in England despite this investment.

What different types of rain are there?

Are these easy to install?

Parts of the north have some of the lowest average rain in the country. So who gets all the floods I may ask?

my last water butt only managed 88 times before it exploded.

Replace the washer?

Why the hell would you use dirty rain water to wash your car with?

Surely this is a better … Surely this is a better deal??http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/274588.htmHOW MUCH????

You can get a 1000l IBC for ~£10 if your wanting to store a lot of water.
If you have the space and don't mind how they look they are ideal.

As for this deal I got one of these from Argos a while back and they are nice little kits. Don't hold much at all, but for putting next to a greenhouse or shed and not taking up much room you really can't complain.

Its actually quite clean, any sediment in the rain settles in the bottom of the tank. (I clean my butt every couple of years)
