** £100 cashback on TVs £1300 or over on 18 months interest free credit**

I have no idea why this isn't advertised anywhere, but I went into Currys yesterday to pick up a Sony AG8 (for £1299 sadly) and they said that any spend of £1300 or over on a TV will automatically get £100 off. Bundling items to get over £1300 doesn't count.

I heard them telling this to any customer, urging them to take finance even if they wanted to pay cash to get the money off.

After completing the credit on my AG8, they said I would receive a gift card for 5% off the financed amount some time next month.

This was the Swindon branch, no idea if it's region wide!

There's more info online here currys.co.uk/gbu…tml with the £100 part mentioned further down the page.

I'd definitely do this and pay the credit off straight away - can't knock £100 off and an extra 5% back on a large purchase.

spend £1300 + to get £100 back..... and its not even interest free credit so basically the £100 just to cover the interest

100% interest free - I picked up my TV on 18 months interest free with no deposit required.

Is it really worth taking out finance though just for a voucher. I don't think so. Credit hit to your file and another credit agreement just for hundred squid

It depends what your priorities are. If you've got a settled mortgage and no car finance to worry about, why not? It would disappear off your file, why wouldn't you?

Of course if you're lining up some proper finance that you need, like a loan, car or mortgage, then it's probably note worth the £100.

It’s not just a hundred quid you also get an additional 5% back on a gift card so £165 in total. Plus you’d earn interest on keeping the £1300 in your account for 18 months
Anyone else think it's sad that people are financing TVs?

I think people are financing almost anything nowadays! Clothes shop like River Island are even advertising finance now.

In this instance the cashback and voucher on this are a good reason to take the finance option. Given that the idea is to pay back in full once voucher has been received. Well as long as there is no clause preventing them to do so.

I'd only consider finance if there was a bonus incentive like this or I won't have to pay extra overall.

I grew up in a household where the TV, VCR etc was always rented, so not really!

Not a huge amount of credit for the kind of TV you can get for that price too. So if you're in a position to be able to meet the repayments its a pretty sweet deal. I've had my LG 3D TV for 8 Years now and still going strong, outlived the 65" Phillips we got to replace it that had to be sent back after just one year! So a decent TV is a good investment for a home.

Really I think it's sad that there are families having to finance/credit the essentials month to month just to get by.

I know it's US data, but probably not too far off the mark.
TVs have never been cheaper relative to everything else, so WHY are people resorting to finance them?
Does anyone want the 6 months free Spotify premium I got from PC World? I have no use for it and don't know anyone that does!
I wonder if they will price match and do the £100 off?
