Having seen the 200 Chip Leather Poker Set £ 9.99 (RRP 34.99) @ argos deal on HUKD; I noticed Argos are also doing some decent cards at less than half price.

- Play poker or any other card game with the best .
- 100% plastic cards are what casinos choose due to their long lifespan, great feel and playability, and difficulty to mark. Set includes -- 1 red and 1 blue deck packed in a collectors tin.

I picked some up (well, the missus did) and they are nice quality and at £1.64 a pack, can't be bad?

I normally get Kem cards which cost around £30 for two decks, but for just over £3, I may give these a try. I seriously doubt they will be as good as my Kems though.

Just beat me to it lol

I don't play enough anymore to warrant buying these but the look good for the price...couldn't see any reviews for them so not sure whether to get them yet.

Anyone tried a set?

I've just bought a set and I suspect that they are not on par with the "Kem Cards" but they are definately 100% plastic and feel 'nice on the shuffle'.... LOL

£30?! Were they made by blind fingerless monks in the highest mountains of peru, where the buyers have to send ninjas to pick up the deliveries of cards...you know.. because of all the kung-fu aligators guarding the path to these playing cards?

Prefer bicycle myself. Good price though

Thank you, I have been looking at these for a while - heat added!!

If you've tried high quality cards (Like KEM cards) you'd understand. There is no comparison whatsoever. My deck has lasted 3 years and still feel great. These cards are probably no better than the £1 my newsagent sells that claims to be '100% plastic' too. They won't last long, trust me. These are fine if you're not a regular player, but otherwise invest in a good deck.

i've got 20 packs of cards, bout 0 bicycle and 3 packs of kems. 2 more kems in the post Kems are good, waterproof, you can bend them, great cards. Personally I dont like playing with them, prefer bicycles as they feel more like cards, i guess cause they arent 100% plastic.Kems are worth the money if ou are a regular player, or want to practice shuffles without breaking the cards, onl about £17 now

10 bicycle it should say

To be fair, cheap plastic cards are still pretty decent. These will be far better than any plastic coated ones out there.

Main difference between these and high grade cards will be the quality of the ink and rigidity of the plastic. I use Copag cards myself (they come in around £5 a pack if you shop around and are regarded as second only in quality to Kem) and they have lasted years as well.

A few friends bought cheaper plastic ones like this and they are still perfectly usable but we have found that the cheaper ones bend and crease more easily and have started to fade while the Copags are still pretty much good as new.

For the price, these are still a good buy. If I didn't have a spare pack of Copags still in the flat somewhere, I'd probably buy a set myself.

only downside, like you said is poor quality of print on the back, compared to bicycle etc. bought one pack earlier, reserved 3 more, 2 in each pack so last a while! Bargain

Anyone who has bought these know what kind of finish is on the cards?
I would like to use them to try some magic tricks

@ trikidy -

I'm curious. Why do you have 20 odd packs of cards?!?!? Especially if some of them are good quality ones?

I bought a twin pack of Copag years ago. Still using the first deck as they've lasted so well and I play a poker game most weekends. They've been spilt on, chucked about, taken overseas, camping and washed in the sink several times ..... and they're still fine to use!

Think I have a pack of cheapo plastic ones lying around somewhere as well but I don't anticipate needing them anytime soon ....

I'm into magic, and I just like the cards. Got Bicycle arcane, kardinal dead eyes, elite, etc. I like cards with special designs, looking to buy the bicycle vintage ones from amazon next payday.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vintage-1800-Bicycle-Cards-Blue/dp/B004NTSMC2/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1312379325&sr=8-4

Think they look well cool. I'm a hoarder, I get something then want more of it, end up with no money and a stack of cards! Owell, one of those things.

The finish on them is quite 'slidy' , with bicycle its quite firm and if you had them stack and pushed them they would fall but not go too far, thes would slide for years. Good amount of give in them, they are like Kems but thicker, which i think is better to deal and hold

thanks

wow let's hope he don't sneeze lol

I'd prefer to have six and a half packs of regular cards than one pack of these premium cards.

What is wrong with paper cards all of a sudden? 50p/pack. People spending £15/pack must be millionaires.

What can i get at argos for £1.70... im going to pick some of these up using my voucher of £5 i got from my BBQ buy

I guess it all depends on what you want to do with them

Most casinos in Vegas use their own designs on the backs of Bee cards (I know the bellagio does and although the mirage says "aristocrat" on the box, the design and feel is very "bee")

There are a few casinos that use other brands obviously but if you're just looking for some decent quality cards then bee's are good without being expensive if you aren't to keen on bicycles.

I prefer Bees because they really have that "casino" feel to them...anyway, i'll go back practicing my push through and strip out for the game this weekend

They're cr a p. Simple as that really.

If you played poker every weekend, you'd understand.

If you cut shuffle (ie. slide half the deck into the other half) then plastic coated paper ones fall apart in no time (Or, at best, they'll crease up and fray at the corners - thus becoming marked). We tried using one of the packs that you get free with poker chips and they were useless. Didn't even last a whole game.

I've been using a single pack of plastic Copags for years. If I'd been using plastic coated ones this whole time I dread to think how much I'd have had to spend on cards by now. A hell of a lot more than the £5 I paid for the Copags thats for sure!

i bought a bunch of these for starting a poker night in my local, great value i thought

I picked up a few packs of used casino cards on my last visit for a few dollars each. Corners are cut off but always nice to bring the Bellagio to your front room

Poker aside, these would be good for holidays where you don't want to get out of the pool much

Reserved.

This seems slightly better deal, going to try bee!

Reserved the last set at my local Argos.

Got some ex-casino cards, but even those are starting to wear. Will be nice to give these a try.

You obviously don't play poker.

Paper cards are very retarded and **** on so many levels.

Pay for what you get.

Would recommend Bicycle myself but seems like a good price for some decent cards.

Your link to Ebay is wrong.

The text is correct but the link takes you to a removed item. Should it be ebay.co.uk/itm…e2e?

Just reserved and picked up a set. Pretty good cards actually! Good deal, though did laugh at the fact argos say you have to be 18 to buy them....

You shouldn't encourage gambling

Nope. Your link doesn't work either. Ebay links never do.

You are better off searching for the item number .... which is 200581967406.

However. I wouldn't buy these myself. They are only plastic coated, not 100% plastic. It doesn't actually mention their composition on the ebay listing. But >> THESE << are the same cards and the info on the Amazon listing says plastic coated.

I'm sure they are very nice quality paper cards, but for longevity I would only ever go with 100% plastic.
