For a limited time only you can get a cinema ticket for 1,000 points - that's a ticket for just £5.00.

With blockbuster releases like Lion King, Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw, Angry Birds and Once Upon a Time In Hollywood, plus many more this summer, there’s something for everybody at Vue.

The extra savings don't end there either, you can still redeem your points in increments of 500 on your favourite treats. Every 500 points gives you a £2.50 discount on your popcorn, snacks and drinks.

Or you could just pay £5.99 standard price if you're not a sainsburys shopper / nectar card holder.

Only specific cinemas are that price.

Offer is great value if it covers the more popular cinemas in central locations, where tickets can be anything from £8 - £15 per person.
Or two for £7 through the Vodafone rewards app. During the sainsburys double up then 1000 points is worth £10 so false economy to trade for one ticket. Imo

Exactly. This is a poor deal however you dress it up.

Yeah, poor deal because of the chain it's for. If this was for an Odeon ticket, then fine, those are expensive so a fiver isn't bad. Although as others said, when the double-up is running, those points are worth a tenner.

But either way, Vue have restructured their pricing to be much cheaper recently. Even some of the formerly-expensive London ones are only £6.99 now, instead of the crazy 15-odd that they used to be. So there's not much value here.

That's for Odeon though?
It's a shame that they don't do the Nectar 'Summer Rewards' anymore, you used to get 2 cinema tickets or 2 mains at Pizza express for 1000 nectar points

yes but you can only redeem 500 points ie £2.50 - they wont allow you to redeem 1000 points as its less than £5 so this offer is still useful

Sweet Sunday still works for next 1-2 days. Worked at at £2 for a ticket for me. This works out at £5 of points. Plus you get to eat the sweets. The M and M packs are £2 each if you shop around.

If you don't live near one of the Sweet Sunday cinemas fair enough.

I think you can also use Meerkat discount at Vue. How much are you really saving here? Some of their cinemas only charge £4.99 anyway. You are in fact losing money on this deal?

Why would you redeem £5 points for £4.99? Why not just take if off your shopping at Sainsburys?

Sainsburys seem to be doing weekly offers now when you scan your card. I got 7 money off vouchers for various products this week. Albeit I seem to be the only one not getting money off coupons via the post now. I then got a voucher urging me to spend £50 for 100 bonus points. They'll be lucky if I spend over £10-15 in a average week. I did wonder if someone had taken my money off vouchers from the post. As I keep getting these spend £50 vouchers for a discount.

We also lost our spend £10 swipe and win event this year in H1. Instead got a 150 points event for 150 years. Will there be a double up event come Christmas?

because 1p difference in redeem value is pretty obviously insignificant & I don't shop at sainsburys very much

I also dont go to Vue that much either so dont feel Im missing out too much on any potential "double points" promos
- basically I got tired of waiting for a double pts promo that was useful to me so started using some of my pts for vue

the double pts promos have also got rarer & more restrictive too - for example, you used to be able to get double up vouchers for sainsburies toiletries but they stopped doing that a couple of years or so ago

funnily enough there is a rare example of a double pts promo I can actually use right now i.e. a double up on LNER trains vouchers which I used 10,000 pts for to get £100 in train vouchers
