Giff Gaff for £20 gives everything unlimited..no heat here .

*After 9GB of data used you'll experience a reduced data speed of 384kbps from 8am to Midnight. You may notice that activities which require high amounts of data, like HD video streaming, will be slower. Traffic Flow applies

I've been with Virgin Mobile for a few months and my wife has now joined. We were on three and vodafone previously.
No network issues (didn't have on any other network either). We joined purely on cost and value for money. We are on sim only deals like most of the HUKDers. I had to apply the APN to my handset, so if you are joining make sure you have the correct APN. I couldn't get online until I did this. Took about a minute, so not a big deal.

I've just run a speed test using the Ookla app. I get 46.1 Mbps down and 27.4 Mbps up. However, speed is not important to me. I suspect what is important to most people is whether they can go online whenever they want. So here is my experience with Virgin. I can stream music without buffering. I can download podcasts. I can watch YouTube. I tether to my iPad - it then streams audio and video without issue. If I browse to twitter.com on my iPad tethered to my phone I get a message telling me that twitter data is free for Virgin customers.

What is annoying about these mobile sim only threads is that everyone all over the UK can have a very different experience. If you are on the fence, buy it and trial it intensively for a week and then return and cancel if it's not working out for you.
Atrocious customer service. Last time when this offer was on, I got one sim. Had to call customer service for an issue and they were very rude, argumentative, refused to log a complaint and did not let me talk to a manager etc. After making several calls, hoping to speak to someone reasonable, I cancelled my order. They said they have but never gave me a confirmation. I just realised a couple of days ago, they have charged me £20 after telling me they have cancelled my order.

I ended up taking a 100GB sim from Three for extra £5. Still waiting for £20 refund from Virgin.

My EE SIM only plan is ending next Saturday, and was thinking of joining virgin, is that a bad idea? I've not heard about the connection issues?

It does not cost them anything to give u more data
Soon it will all be unlimited just like texts and mins
EE network is faster in speed
They are not using the EE network anymore and there is a connection issue with new (purple) sim. There was a long discussion on the virgin forum.
Not saying it is not working for everyone...
I have been with them but regret poor reception poor customer service

Do you have a source to confirm what you’re saying?
Didn't have any issues when I was on Virgin a while back. My phone is currently EE, would I need to unlock my phone or do they still use the EE Network?
They dont have call waiting service anymore. all of the sudden 4g service stop working i have turn data off/on or switch to 3G to make it working
Wow, guess I'm staying with EE!

They use the same network. I had an ee locked phone and a virgin sim worked fine.

As I understand it they are still using the EE network, but are managing it themselves. The connection issue I had was fixed by manually adding the APN - a two minute fix.

Thought they did but someone above mentioned they'd changed. Thanks.

If it works just by changing the apn then it is great.
Yesterday I talked with EE customer service, trying to get better deal and they told me that Virgin is no longer under EE. But who knows.
I am guessing it will get better in few months anyway.

All my services are fully fuctional
Shockingly bad customer service and the be aware you will have a stupidly high credit limit on the account (Atleast £50) so you could have £50 of extra changes before they it then off.

They say we dont offer but some people it works and for some dont i have complained but no result.
If u have unlocked using virigin network and ur phone get lost u need proof of usage and they says it was third party phone which have nothing to do with us and dont understand proof usage is.
Before haters start hating, like the Android fan boys Vs the Apple fan boys yes Virgin now allows Tethering.

Thank you for taking the time to warn others. I've had the same sort of customer service from other companies and it's so frustrating. It least you have warned others and I for one will steer clear.
I have been with virgin for few months now service is very good get 4g everywhere and customer service has been good compared to other companies I have been with
Perfect connection

Always 4G+

Average 40mbps
Don't bother with VMo - 4G is NOT supported on the NEW SIM cards being issued whilst ROAMING. I have tried in Spain and France, 2 times each over the past 6 months. I use a dual sim phone and my plusnet sim works each time connecting to the same 4G data networks VMo can't. Multiple others have reported this but VMo are blagging their way out of it blaming everything but themselves. Also notice that tone dialing is hit and miss (doesn't work for some conference calls) again works on plusnet and for those who care, they don't support pptp vpn.
And just to reiterate their customer services is the worst set of jokers I have ever dealt with. One of them put the phone down on me during a discussion.

UK 4G is very good. I get 20mbps indoors regularly. Roaming, a very slow 3G.

Anyone managed to get this cheaper by talking to retentions? I'm on the monthly £10 contract for potentially 60gb, and that's been finishing up every month so would love to get this one!
Been sim only with virgin for over ten years. Phoned up two weeks ago to talk about a new deal and it was my bad luck to get somebody very unhelpful. I ended up requesting my PAC no. which she supplied. I thought i would leave it a few days and try again to speak to someone sensible. She definitely did not explain that they would immediately cancel my contract and transfer me to a zero balance PAYG. I only discovered what had happened by accident later in the day when i noticed that several text messages i'd sent earlier had 'error' notifications. Disgraceful customer service. Be warned.

I switched to Virgin over a year ago after having, O2 and Vodaphone and this is by far the best signal I've had and I travel a lot! 40gb inc tethering for £15..it's been life saver being able to use laptop & iPad while out & about..
I have a Virgin 4G mobile and the coverage is dire. I thought it used the EE netwoek, but the wife is on EE and we never have the same strength of signal.

Im in Scotland and having travelled SE Asia recently i can confirm that they have a better mobile infrastructure and 4G coverage than Scotland.

I was with EE and had no issues. Changed to Virgin who use EE and have had nothing but connection problems and issues. Avoid. Shame as cracking deal. Currently with virgin looking at get out clauses.
I'm on Virgin would not recommend switching to them. It's fine when it works but CS is nonexistent if you have any issues. I've not had any mobile internet for over a week now and they have no clue what's going on. They promise a manager will call back but no one ever does, and when I call up again to complain I'm told sorry and we'll get a manager to call back - rinse and repeat.

Join at your peril.
I used to be on unlimited 3g for many years @ £7 pm, they then increased it to £10. I upgraded? to 8GB 4g a few months ago at the same price as I wanted better connection and speed but I cannot see any improvement and my data is now capped

A few months ago they had unlimited 4g for £20 pm so this price is not quite as good,
