1080p quality showing everything is more important than 30fps. Mainly cause it's still a fluid enough image to clearly show what happens. Might pop down and have a look to see if it's any good for me.
Poor quality camera, don't be fooled by the 1080p nonsense, image stability and dusk operation very poor on this model, the price reflects the sub-par quality.
Seemed to get plenty of heat last time. Did you buy one? Can always just take it back if it's naff.
lasted less than year. stopped loop recording, video quality wasn't that good.. Of course I had lost my receipt so no refund. I wouldn't recommend to be honest.

I now use an old android phone with free dashcam app. Much better quality and gps enabled.
these are too big, like the old Nokia's. I don't use mine, gw1
I bought 2 of these when they first came on sale & they are shocking! For £30 I guess I shouldn't have expected too much but it wasn't until I actually wanted the fottage I realised how tight I'd been.

1) night mode is unusable

2) internal battery lasts 1-2mins so if it detects movement while parked you get 3 or 4 recordings before its battery is flat.

3) day recording into light dims the exposure so low the cars & roads are black

4) quality even on the highest setting is so low you can't get a clear shot of a moving car number plate

5) the large mounting & tiny length of cable means it takes over the front screen. Seriously, the camera mounting is twice the size of the camera!!!

If you just want a cheap camera to record your drive, track day, off road adventure etc then it's fine I guess.

Personally I'd save up & buy a go pro or buy a proper dash camera. We now have Thinkware F750's twin cameras in both cars & the difference is unbelievable!!

Comparing this to a £150 dash cam is pointless, I would expect the £150 one to be much better, I'd be sending it straight back if it wasn't!
Pointless on price but not on being fit for purpose.

There is no point buying a dashcam if the fottage is useless. Save up and buy a more expensive one is all I was trying to advise

Thanks for the info
Get a mobius, far more discreet, OK a bit more money, but for about 50 quid you get a very competent and discreet set up that can comfortably be left inside the car.
Mobius all day long!
Had one of these for about a year , gets used every day on daily commute attached to crash helmet.. for £40ish very good value.

Mobius def for ideal price/performance. Had three from eBay eletoponline store. Video quality perfectly usable although suffers at night as they all do. Added advantage it's tiny and less visible than average dashcam.

I use AutoBoy Blackbox on Android (free), works well for me
Mobius, wasn't he in 'Forbidden Planet' ?
My thoughts are,I want one but do I need one and if so it would probably be the slightly less obvious rear view mirror type, hopefully a UK spec one with the camera on the driver's side if possible
....and one with automatic expletive deleted X)

:p:p London east end is a dangerous place.. X) I would say its for my protection on the motorcycle ,, in truth its just entertainment value, watchin back crashes, women doin makeup at 80mph, builders making coffee at the same, one geezer so stoned , though he was sleeping..
Lidl had a clearance shop near us, it shut about 3 weeks ago, I bought 2 of these fro £10 each, my kids are happy enough with them.
What is the purpose of having one of these, I know a few people with them who seem to think they're going to catch people cutting them up and running red lights. Whereas in reality I'd guess the most likely outcome is that you're going to record yourself doing something illegal.
what a horrible world when we all feel the need to spy on one another. I'll resist the temptation thanks.

quite agree, bad enough the kids sharing photos online of me asleep on the sofa with a box of maltesers gently resting on my stomach - is there no privacy anymore......
I saw one in store the other day. It looked like it had infra red LEDs around the lens.

If that's what they were surely it would just reflect off the inside of the screen?
pff. illegal here in Luxembourg.

If someone tries to scam you by stopping suddenly so that you run into them this can be proof. Or any other kind of scam. Depends how worried you are that this will happen.

Dash cams are fantastic for insurance purposes. Check out Reddit for some videos from dash cameras

I would have thought so if you hit the central reservation hard enough

There is some mis information here about why you would have one of these … There is some mis information here about why you would have one of these in your car. They are designed to record or more importantly capture events leading up to, during and after any incident on the road that would require you to have proof or evidence to support yourself or claim for police or insurance purposes. If your like me, you fit it behind you rear view, stick in a 64GB memory card, configure settings and then forget about it. I check its working fine once a month, but other than that, i leave it to do what its designed to do..if your not like me, you are prob buying this with the intention of trying to catch people driving poorly and posting it online.. this is not what its designed for, you will prob cause an accident yourself while you try to keep your camera pointed at what's happening. Also you need to make sure your camera is 1080p minimum, but also 30fps ideally 60fps, as both are equally important. the resolution will capture clearer details, the FPS the higher they are the more detail you can capture at higher speeds or for faster movements. Id recommend the Mio or Transcend brands for decent budget cameras, alternatively the B40 A118 is a good dashcam too. Avoid this LIDL one.

Is yours hard wired in? if so, was it easy to do?
