Good price, heat added

Bought some this afternoon. Good price and heat!

But is it any good?

This is good. I can vouch for it having bought 4 bags! Remember basmati gets better as it ages.

Good price. Got £2 off coupon spend £20

This is really good quality rice, people often commented on the quality when I cook it. I bought 20kg when it was £10 for 10kg.

OOS for me.

If this is sourced from India or Pakistan then more likely to have pesticide residues and go unchecked for high amounts of arsenic. Personally I prefer the value 1kg bags of rice normally about 40p and sourced from the US. All rice has arsenic though and higher in brown varieties.

wash the rice before you boil it to get rid of harmful chemicals.

It says extra long rice. Is this the same as the normal Tilda rice which is on offer as well? Or is it the same as American long grain.

Standard rule: wash the rice before cooking. If it was as dangerous as you say then the rice would never be allowed into EU.

Is there any rice field in the UK or in the EU? The rice grown in other Asian tropical countries will not be any better then the one grown in India or Pakistan.

"White basmati rice from California, India, and Pakistan, and sushi rice from the U.S. on average has half of the inorganic-arsenic amount of most other types of rice."

"All types of rice (other than sushi rice) with a label indicating that it’s from Arkansas, Louisiana, or Texas or just from the U.S. had the highest levels of inorganic arsenic in our tests"

"Brown rice has 80 percent more inorganic arsenic on average than white rice but has extra nutrients.... Brown basmati from California, India, or Pakistan is the best choice; it has about a third less inorganic arsenic than other brown rices"
