Chuckle bros loved these courses, they were always on about them.

I've started watching a few of these courses, after binge-registering. I …I've started watching a few of these courses, after binge-registering. I have to say the average standard is very poor. This is amateur hour gone bad. I wonder how they can possibly sell these courses at the standard price of $199 when I had to quit most of them even if they were free. The only good one was a course about vim (the Unix editor).I don't want to take anything away from the OP. Actually, I'm grateful but a word of warning before you all get too excited about it. I'm following a free Eduonix course and it's a bit better.

There's some truly excellent Udemy courses, but since the platform quality of instruction isn't vetted, it is often also hopeless education. I have learnt through trial and error that Udemy has its place but it's not the first port of call for education. Udemy is fine for when you want to learn a very specific portion of a subject, as for being a complete resource it's an utter mess. It's not helped that none of these courses really cost £199 or £179 or £99, they always have a sale and you'll always get them for £9.99 eventually. So never rush to buy a Udemy course.

A year ago I had to learn the Linux command line, Udemy has an outstanding course for this >

udemy.com/lin…ry/

That is a brilliant course taught by someone utterly enthusiastic in teaching, knowing how to teach and teaches in Nottingham University. If you don't know the command line and want to learn that's the course to start with, even better than linuxjourney.com, in fact far superior.

I can sit here for a long time and list fantastic courses, I can also sit here and spend far longer listing utter dross. So with Udemy do your own research first.

Thanks Op, gone for Python 😁
Thanks MartianMan
Creative Guide seems to be all gone, but heat added for the rest.
jQuery expired
thanks OP
Did the Java for complete beginners course for a refresher of syntax. Was ok in terms of content, might just be better using Code Academy.

Also I mean no offense to the teacher but his English is hard to understand and often times I would have to repeat a section to understand what was being said.
Thank you - python and scrum master added. Have some heat.

What one did you sign up for that student beans accepts? I thought you need an academic email address for that?

It's perhaps a little known tip but if you type vimtutor in to the command line, you'll get an interactive text based vim course. Also for anyone who really wants to know VIM the must have book is “Mastering Vim Quickly From WTF to OMG in no time by Jovica Ilic"

I had a look on Eduonix, seems alright, very much in the style of Udemy but with seemingly less content, there's no Blue Prism / UIPath / RPA tutorials at all, for example. I should say that UIPath have their own free academy for learning to use their product, but there's still usage tutorials that give you more examples in using Robotic Process Automation, which every budding programmer and dev should be learning. Pro tip for you there

You didn't miss much. It's dire. I had to play it at 75% just to understand what he was saying. You could probably get all the non-obvious advice he gives out on a sheet of double-spaced A4.
